Top 100 - 52 Record Store Chart - 17 'Real' music retailers have long complained that the Top 100 chart doesn't reflect reality as it gets skewed by the sort of promotions supermarkets have on back catalogue CDs - greatest hits and the like. So performance in the Record Store Chart probably has a bit more credibility.

Thank you for posting this, Alan.
German online shop jpc.de still lists 'Avonmore' at no. 10 this week (#1 AC/DC, #3 Pink Floyd), no. 7 last week.

Avonmore is still hanging in at 57 in the UK top 100 Albums- well done! It seems to have peaked at 72 in the USA Billboard 200 chart for albums.

In actual fact it seems to be doing better than 'Olympia' which only charted for two weeks. It is now in it's third week in the top 60 and when I was in Fopp in Covent Garden yesterday 'Avonmore' is still being displayed very heavily in the new release section, and in both cd and vinyl.

The commercial world of Pop Music has been so transmogrified in recent years with the onslaught of digital media the the comparison of "sales" today with those of yesteryear is fraught with peril and uncertainty.
But given how the entire music industry is suffering from low sales compared to even a few years ago, I think Avonmore has done pretty well in the marketplace since its release last month. Sales of old-school style CDs may be in the neighborhood of 20,000, which would be horrible if it was 1995 but which is actually pretty good today if you're not Taylor S or AC/DC or Pink Floyd.
But even if Avonmore somehow sold 50,000 CDs along with a slew of downloads on iTunes and Amazon its hard to imagine it generating much revenue for BF given the album's production costs (with the huge number of performers featured on the various tracks).
The way to make big money in the music business today is by live performance/touring. New albums can help promote tours, but it is the tour itself that generates the potential revenue stream. So while Avonmore has done pretty well in terms of sales, it won't add a lot to the bottom line for The BF Enterprise.

DCJ wrote: But given how the entire music industry is suffering from low sales compared to even a few years ago I agree with you, but we don't speak about numbers of CDs or downloads, but about the place in the top 100. Ferry never sold a lot. Roxy yes. Ferry left Roxy, it's his choice, but the result is here. And it's sad beacause it's a good album. For example, in France, Alain Souchon (70) and Laurent Voulzy (66) were number 1 for the first week in the top 100, with more than 60,000 Cds and downloads in 1 week.
