Windswept: I'm just a guy sitting on the sidelines of cyberspace watching the world go by and spending leisure time contemplating and commenting on things Roxy and BF. Nothing of earthshaking consequence will ever transpire from one of my posts. Just watching the world of Roxy/BF...
Since Day One the business of BF has been intertwined with his music and his musical career (awhile back he commented how the first line of Virginia Plain ("Make me a deal...") was about his lawyer/solicitor working out a deal with EG Management). I don't view "business" as a pejorative when it comes to music. It's just an integral part of making music in Euro-Western culture since (at least) the 18th century. I won't drone on about the pervasive importance of business to "Pop" music, but I find it interesting that in Bob Dylan's memoir Chronicles: Volume One he spends a lot of time discussing/describing his early interaction with the Widmark Publishing Co.. It's not all about "The Art" of Dylan's music, it's also about "The Business."
Anyway, my view is that if Edna's father (or Edna herself or her future husband/wife) brings out the checkbook and writes the Big Check to make her Special Day truly special, then there are vast multitude of musicians who will be willing to help make the day special. That includes Elton, and BF and the BFO among many, many others. Make no mistake, it will take a sizable check to engage the services of the BFO. But that's OK. It's simply how things are in the 21st century.
Windswept, I always enjoy your posts and if we happen to disagree on this issue/topic, then we disagree. No big deal. The world keeps turning and life goes on. All the best!

I recall (no details though, sorry) that bf was asked recently for tips for newbies setting out in the music biz...and he said something like get a good lawyer or a good contract or take care of the business etc. it is indeed something bf thinks about. But why not,the guy needs to eat ( rather splendidly, surrounded by objets d'art and haute couture).

BF's advice on getting a good lawyer or business advisor was contained in the Spanish news article which I had a bash at translating.

Keyboards possibly, but presumably Colin Good will play piano. It is named as his orchestra but how little BF involvement is actually required for it to be termed a Ferry album? So far it gives the impression of being some members of the admittedly-excellent 1999 touring band but with a front-man gone AWOL. I think it's a BF album as far as he wrote the tunes. There maybe a small amount of keyboard work and then what he does on every album with mixing/producing etc, that's about all there can be?

Nope, sorry and all that but this isn't my cup of tea at all. I've tried with DSTD and my attention starts wandering half way through. I've bought everything put out by BF in the past but the completist in me isn't going to win out this time- the difference is the lack of the BF voice. One of the most distinctive voices of the last 40 years and it's nowhere to be heard on this, and in a musical style that has never appealed to me- I would be just as likely to buy "The James Last Orchestra plays Roxy Music".... And for this the 40th anniversary re-release of "Roxy Music" is being postponed.

[quote="And for this the 40th anniversary re-release of "Roxy Music" is being postponed. [/quote] The Jazz Age has nothing to do why the 40th Anniversary edition of 'Roxy Music' is being delayed. The delay is outwith the hands of the band, in fact most of the band's side of the input to RM 2012 was done before The Jazz Age began. J.O'B.

Thanks for that clarification- in that case I withdraw my eye rolling comment above. Putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5... Still won't be getting the Jazz Album though.
