John has posted this on facebook about an hour ago, maybe he's too busy for posting it here as well.

I see no mention of John. I see no mention of any senders among the posts.

John had posted a link to the amazon page on his vivaroxymusic profile on facebook, commenting that you could now listen to snippets of the songs.

Wow! I was just watching formula one but was curious about the Avondale news ...

Great stuff on the new album. Nice melodies, fine compositions. Less monotonous and noir than 'Mamouna'. Very homogenous sound. 'Taxi'-wah-wah guitars and an intense voice. 'Midnight Train' but no 'Love War'. 'Send In The Clowns' seems to be very distant from the original - Ferryesque, of course :-) Will there be any bonus material on a deluxe version of Avondale? Which song would I prefer to be released as a single record? Not that important today, but maybe 'Soldier Of Fortune' could be radio-friendly.

Can't wait until November and thanks to Lonely Dreamer for the link.

IRSNSHO this is lovely stuff. Obviously need to hear the album properly, though.
BF density, texture and darkness all to great effect....with his later day vocal working well in this context. A couple of Horoscope songs find their way in....and that's a great thing.
Can't wait till November. Rock on Tommy!

Elegantly Ageing Hipsters,
The great Roxysiren a raison!
The snippets have a very noir feel and could herald a return to the halcyon days of 'Boys & Girls'.
Doubtless all you discerning dilettantes will be keeping your powder dry until you have heard the whole thing but Windswept confesses to extreme excitement!
As for the artwork, again critical opinion will be reserved until Windswept has the real thing in his sweaty little palms albeit, he does confess to considerable sadness over the absence of the bar room version of MTT. Perhaps it will make an appearance on the collectors edition? All should know that Windswept would willingly sell all his wife's designer shackles to obtain this masterpiece.
The count down to launch day will be tough to endure but certainly a large Talisker and a trip to A&S should ease the pain.
a bien tôt,
Windswept

Agreed dear WS2. What we've seen may just be a teaser...or if not, may not convey the real deal in the flesh. Let's see.
Btw, I even liked the cover of Oh Yeah/South Downs, which was even more minimalist. Acknowledge though that that was a 45, and Avonfield is an album....but I'm naturally optimistic about Bry's art direction on album matters.

Cher Roxysiren,
C'est vrai.
The Taste Tarantula normally nails it (exception 'Olympia') so Windswept will probably have to find a place to hang it.
The wall is getting full!
Salutations,
W

The Amazon/UK song snippet links don't seem to be working for linksters in the States. At least I couldn't get any to work...

Also, as of a few minutes ago bryanferry.com had NOTHING related to Avonmore. Rather amazing given that many people have already listened to snippets from the album...

The presently available cover artwork does seem rather somber. Certainly it would have cost MUCH less than a major photo shoot with Kate M!!!

I suspect that BF and BMG are keeping a close eye on the bottom line because they don't want Avonmore to lose money (if Olympia made any money it wasn't much because of all the promo costs...)
