Now the party's over.........I'm so tired. :( My last show on the Avonmore tour at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall was another superb evening with Bryan Ferry & Co. I was worried it might not live up to the energy of the previous two shows but I needn't have had any fears. There were some small differences to Newcastle and Edinburgh but overall three outstanding performances from The Maestro and his Merry Band. Once again Waddy Wachtel joined the band on stage, this time we were treated to 2 songs. We had a very brief word with him in the foyer just before the show started and he said he was going to join Bryan on stage for two songs this time and he seemed quite excited. We tried to contain our inner "woo hoo" at this news!. We expected Can't Let Go and he said "another track from the Bride Stripped Bare time that didn't make the album, never been played live". It narrowed down the tracks it could be and we went into the hall knowing there was a huge surprise coming. He'll Have to Go was the song in question and was well received by the crowd. We have been lucky to get an extra different song in each of our shows. Even luckier to get a bonus extra in the shape of Re/make/Re-model to close the show. From our vantage point down at the front I could read the set list (my upside down reading skills have improved greatly!) and I knew Jealous Guy was the final song. I could hardly contain my excitement when, as the band were taking in the crowd applause, Paul Beard signalled to Luke on drums to stay in his seat and a nod to Quist which meant Bryan had given the sign and we were good for one more song. I much prefer an up tempo song close the show as do a lot of other fans. I was disappointed that the crowd didn't show a bit more appreciation for Paul when he had his little solo spot during Tara. Also, some of the audience seemed to treat this part of the show as a time to chat instead of listening to the excellent musicians on stage which was a shame. I hope everyone attending the final run of shows this week has a great time and the set list remains at 25-26 songs.

I have mixed feelings now, glad for the great shows I have seen and sad that it is all over for me until...........who knows where or when.

Once again a huge part of attending the shows has been to meet up with some old faces, new faces, old new faces and new old faces.............too many to list but I look forward to the next time we meet up again. :D

There are other things about this tour that have made it special for me but above all, just two words.................Beauty Queen. :)

Cher Roxy,

I have to say, your photos are absolutely fabulous.

You should be commissioned as the official photographer without delay!

I particularly liked your shot of his 'Virginia Plane' pose. I'm trying to master this for Brighton but find I can only do it without alcohol!

Great stuff et un très grand merci.

Salutations,

W2

Thanks Windswept!

I was a bit disappointed with this camera which I have only had for a few months. It is the first time I have used it at a concert and it struggles in the low light. I should have had it's big brother with me but these days if you have anything that looks like a professional camera the stewards pounce on you so I just take the compact version. I'm kind of wishing I had taken my old one to see what might have turned out.

That pose is actually his "Nijinsky" from the line in Do the Strand. :)

Cher Roxy,

With this level of devotion to duty, I think you should be given your own box and allowed to take any camera you Like.

As for the pose - how could I get this so wrong? It just goes to show that Roxology is a journey and not a destination.
I stand - on one leg, corrected!

Regards,
Windswept.

I'm starting to get exited, less than a fortnight until BF will be playing in Hamburg!

He (or more likely: his team) just published a photo of the current band on facebook, looks like Lucy Wilkins and Neil Hubbard are in the photo. :D

The facebook post mentions Paul Beard, Rosemarie Brookes, Luke Bullen, Jimmy Sims, Jorja Renn, Lucy Wilkins und Jacob 'Quist' Quistgaard.

Thanks for your posting, Lonely Dreamer. Looks good ;-) I can't believe that there are only nine days left until Bryan's concert in Stuttgart. Remember how disappointed we all were last December - it seemed to be an endless year with many doubts if the concerts would ever take place. Then the sudden break of the British tour. But let's keep our fingers crossed that Bryan is in good health now - I'm really looking forward to enjoying his show. Lots of fun to you in Hamburg 8-) !! -p-

Anyone going to be in Munich on Monday? I'm popping over and going to take some friends to Kesselhaus. More than happy to buy the odd Tegernseer for a fellow VRMer ;)
