Hmmmm I have to disagree with that article Erland.

It is no secret that Morrissey was influenced by the whole glam rock scene Bolan, Bowie. Roxy included.with Morrissey putting forward "For Your Pleasure" as one of his all time favourite albums. But I don't see what the writer of this blog sees here. What I do see is someone who has fallen out with Morrissey and his music for whatever reason and is venting off a bit.
He says he discovered Morrissey 20 years ago yet has only just realised that Morrissey is a "knockoff of Bryan Ferry" haha turn it in.

I love Morrissey and BF but I have to say that on watching and listening to them both over the years I have never ever thought.... or even occurred to me for one minute.....that Morrissey was 'ripping off' or even trying to imitate BF. They are like chalk n cheese... complete opposites.
The only thing I have picked up on is that they both write the same way. Music comes first then the lyrics. For me that's where the similarities between the two ends.

If we were to look for the ultimate BF Imitator/knockoff.....then wouldn't David Sylvian come top of the class?

Hipsters - Ageing or Otherwise,
I agree completely with the great Helen regarding this.
I simply don't see the comparison and fear this blogster's taste is a little off.
Particularly when it comes to cars. To me a BMW or a Lamborghini would be a crisis at any time of life!

Windsept

Helen,

I just saw the article, and sent it and perhaps
someone like you and Windswept2 would have
an opinion about it, and you both offered valid points.

I'm no expert on Morrissey's music.

If you both want to inform & correct the writer about
what you wrote, you can email him here:

Besides, waddya want from a Yank living in
LA, perhaps near Canoga Park?
