A great concert! Personal favourites: Reason or Rhyme, If there is something, Like a hurricane, My Only Love - great live songs. Usually I am not so fond of hearing material from Avalon live, but last night More Than This came out fantastically - and so did Avalon. Sewuese did a splendid job, the best I ever heard since Yanick Etienne.
Ollie is an incredible talented, versatile guitar player. To pair his enthusiasm with the experience of Spedding is genial. That there were some technical problems and that Jorja, whom I really like to see on stage - almost a "pity" that she is pregnant! - missed a couple of notes was perhaps due to the rain?
Bryan was in good shape as usual. The only sad thing was that I couldn`t see the dancers from my position at the front.
Thanks for a fantastic concert. Hope to see you all soon again!
By the way, Chris Spedding had a new guitar!
(Colin Good is as important for the team as Xavi is for the Spanish national football squad - he keeps the parts together)

Oooooooooooh, where to start? It was an abbreviated setlist, that`s fersure. I shunned the hideous Norwegian singer/songwriters and troubadours. Then it became a very expensive day-pass. The audience was scattered in the comparatively big premises. There was threatening clouds above. It could start raining anytime. People were mainly in their 40s. The sound system was playing groovy soul tunes by James Brown, which I liked. Suddenly a man appeared beside the curtain to the left, dressed in what looked like a tuxedo. However, all of a sudden, Bryan came strolling in from the right. The man in the tuxedo was Colin Good! The musical signals were hesitant and not easy to judge. Then there was no doubt; we were hearing “Put A Spell On You”. The sound was good, and Bryan`s voice was fine throughout the show. He seemed routined and very professional, but I think he`s seen a better audience. It`s definetely not the 80`s anymore. What I think beyond this becomes a question of taste. “Chance Meeting” came across way too lofty for this audience. When the band broke into “More Than This”, without interruption, it felt like a relief. Surprisingly, they`ve turned both this song and “Avalon” into a real live staple! I was impressed. On guitar, Ollie was smokin`. The oboe/sax player was really where she should be. The female singer at the end of “Avalon” was almost as good as Yanick in the studio version.

Obviously, the audience seemed to wake up a little at “Like A Hurricane”. Maybe they thought they were at a Neil Young concert.

Both Ollie on guitar and the female sax/oboe player sounded to me like competent stand-ins for Phil and Andy. However, Ollie should be careful not to flash into distortion as often as he does.

Highlights for me were: “Put A Spell On You”, “If There Is Something”, “Casanova”, “Reason Or Rhyme”, “More Than This”, “Avalon”, “Hold On, I`m Coming”.

At the risk of sounding like a "jazz trainspotter" (OK, guilty as charged!), I don't think Jorja plays oboe; certainly she hasn't done so at BF or Roxy gigs, as far as I'm aware. The straight, gold coloured horn she plays (e.g. on Tara) is a soprano sax. :geek:

Ah,it was a great night!!!a hard rain IS gonna fall :D Must say I found it "interestingly" easy to move around the crowd, but of course,i stayed in front and therefore,i dont know what happened with the rest of the crowd...i think it was a brilliant show!my friend was not a fan before she went, but she was totally convinced at the end; praising both bryan ferry and the rest of the musiscians. One more fan gained :)
Bryan is so professional and i felt like he enjoyed the evening too, despite of a lack of audience - those who were there still counts :D
All hail to the chief, cant wait for next time!

PS.glad to see others who stayed away from the rest of that lineup; its a fucking tv show - thankfully our man delivered the tickets worth ;)

Before the concert, an English speaking person were desperately trying to get rid of all his tickets. He had obviously miscalculated the black market for this gig. He was selling them for way below the original price. I overheared a short conversation between him and a well to do couple in this well to do neighbourhood. They were the right age, presumably both had been young in the 70s/80s; “Do you want to buy tickets for Bryan Ferry?” - Bryan Ferry? “Yeah, Bryan Ferry, playing at this venue tonight!” - No, thank you!
