The performance is very good, while the tune/melody is not as interesting as This Island Earth. Nonetheless. these are skilled musicians who make the most of what they have to work with.

There are a few shots where the you get to see the music makers' faces, but in general it appears the camera operator was told to keep face time to a minimum. Even BF gets only a few profiles...

I love what I've heard, even though I think you are right (in a way :) ).
I like Colin on atgb, where he was crucial. I've been down on him on other outings though, especially the emasculation of the alphaville original sessions into frantic. But his role on the jazz age is pivotal and wonderful.

it's not a bryan ferry album per se... it is credited, quite clearly, as 'the bryan ferry orchestra'...
