but one of the great other roxy-associated acts, david bowie, is back. here is the video to his new song, "where are we now?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOyDTy9DtHQ what do you think about it? i think it´s a grower and would never have had expected it to happen after his heart attack in 2004. and even a new album to follow in march. |

Steve, I, too, am thrilled and delighted that Bowie is back. I thought he would never release another album after his heart attack in 2004 but it just shows that great artists like Bowie and Ferry, who provided a soundtrack to my teenage years, can't keep away from the recording studio. Wonderful to have them both releasing an album in the same year - the last was 2002 (Frantic and Heathen). Though I am assuming that Bryan does release his album of original material some time in 2013. I have always wondered what the relationship between the two men are, though there is a great photograph of the two of them chatting just after Ferry has gone offstage in New York during Roxy's Manifesto tour in 1979. |

David Bowie is one of my all time favourites – a master. A quick note though about his public utterances on BF/RM.... He has been very positive about both Roxy and BF many times, eg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aS4jBB-KMdE He evangelised Roxy early on, and then again in 2000 reunion . he's cited BF as one of the greatest writers and lyricists (which the BF PR machine now quotes in their releases). |

I caught the news report after the beginning and thought he must have died and it was an obit - rather surprised at so much attention for the release of a single. Still the BBC report included a clip of Phil Manzanera reminiscing about performing on stage together at Bowie's last live performance. |

I can only echo BlankFrank's surprise that it merited inclusion in the day's main BBC TV news bulletin; it must have been a very slow news day! ![]() Nice to see Phil there, though; there was a brief clip of him playing (before his brief interview) and his face wasn't visible, so Mrs Smudge thought it particularly sad that I recognised him instantly! Apparently I should be out there looking for something called "a life"... ![]() |

Where Are We Now is getting USA commercial airplay. I'm listening to it now on WRSI out of Northampton, Mass. And they played it last night when I was listening... |
