Well worth listening to this if you missed it (starts after ~33 mins in):

Sounded great, including an intriguing version of Love is the Drug (with vocals!). A warning though that young Jamie manages to get the name of Don't Stop the Dance wrong - and refers to it as a "Roxy Music classic"!

nice to see how vocals worked on the quickened, jazz version of LITD.. though i don't see why he feels the need to drown out his own voice with those of the backing girls (as good as they are). it is he who sells records, after all. from what i could make out, he sounded on pretty good form - all the more reason to crank up the volume!

as for cullum.. i'm getting sick and tired of journalist/broadcaster ignorance. there were several posts on walker a few weeks back, now we have a musician turned "broadcaster" punching way too high above his weight who clearly has little knowledge of his own guests. what's more, he found his 2 x errors funny. a man of ferry's reputation deserves better. do your homework, cullum.

Cher India,
Thanks for posting this.
The mini Maida Vale session was great and frankly, I thought the tracks were even better live than on the album. The reason for this may be they were faded for the disc to give them even more of a period feel. A valid choice but when you hear the clarity of those notes, a debatable one.
Although I can see were Gazrox is coming from regarding the vocals on LITD, for me, they worked. I found it to be more of an ensemble piece than a lead vocal and the treatment had me dreaming of seeing these guys live. Shame Cullum didn't play ROR.
Regards,
Windswept

Alas, I left it too late to seek out this session, which is no longer on BBC iPlayer. :(

Just wondered if anyone recorded it and might be able to supply a copy? Thanks in anticipation.

Hi erland

It's all about the publishing rights....just like I can't watch any of, for example, HBO's online output from here in the UK. But I know that some people use proxy server services to get around all this...but it ain't legal to do so.
