I was lucky enough to see Bry on his first Oz tour and a song that suited his band that included a brass section was Roadrunner. The crowd loved it and it rocked. I was disappointed it never made it to mastertape and release, it would have been a hit, given his popularity at the time and suited his recorded material of that era.

I agree; I still think the bootlegs I've heard from the 1977 tour are among BF's best ever solo live shows (but then I've always had a soft spot fror the In Your Mind material and can't understand why BF has never learned to love it!).

Bryan did a live special on Channel 7 Sydney called inventively Bryan Ferry Live in Australia. It was hyped as state of the art sound and vision and it wasboth but the performance fell flat without a live audience. It has not been repeated in its entirety to my knowledge. Probably lost in the catacombs of the station.

I'm sure you're right, Zarathustra... TV stations have a habit of sitting on gems (if they haven't already deleted them! :o ) until they use them as obituaries... :(

At least (I'm fairly sure) the audio's out there as a bootleg CD-R...

Maybe BF's team should get on to them about a promotional re-broadcast before he nexts performs in Oz?

I've got that bootleg, it's got Chris Spedding on, cracking version of Road Runner, yes.

Someone on the avalon mailing list last year posted on soundcloud his version of ticket to ride which he performed on some of the dates on the same tour which was rather good, and sadly neglected.

I am going to upload to the VivaRM soundcloud page in the next few days 'Ticket To Ride', 'It's My Party' and 'Roadrunner' from the 28th June 1977 Masonic Auditorium Detroit USA show during the In Your Mind tour.

There are a few rarely performed tracks there:

Bryan's delivery on the soundcloud Roadrunner absolutely bristles and horns are blazing. Roxy rehearsed The Doors Light My Fire for the Flesh and Blood tour. Now that would have been interesting.
