Errant Diletantes, After the GQ debacle you will be pleased to know that our hero has been saluted as one of the world's fifty greatest living Rakes by that modern voice of classic elegance, "The Rake" magazine. In his profile, Bryan sings the praises of Anderson & Sheppard and Luca Rubinacci (doubtless there will be loads more free whistle & flutes and jihadist scarfs winging there way to his door) and says about his credo: "I'm not really sure what it was, the best moment. You always hope it's to come." This time however, Geordie's favourite son is in much more illustrious company. Fellow luminaries in this most exclusive of clubs include Terence Stamp, Stephen Fry, Ralph Lauren,Charlie Watts, Paul Smith and Justin de Villeneuve (born Nigel Davies). OK, there are others whom only their mothers have heard of. The likes of Poggy, Lino Ieluzzi, Vincenzo Viscione, Yann Debelle De Montby and Beppe Modenese. And, there are also a few wastrels and self-publicists such as AA Gill, Alexander Kraft, Prince Michael of Kent, Nicky Haslam and Nick Foulkes - all of whom succeed in loving themselves beyond belief. That said, The Rake does seem to make a better fist of it than GQ even though the average age of these punters seems to be about 70 and Ferry would be much better off hanging out with the band. That said, at least this time he has avoided the ignominy of appearing on a list below Sir Elton John, David Furnish and David Cameron! Bon courage — there's time for us all yet! Regards, Windswept
