Hi,

I'm thinking of venturing over the pond to see TBFO and was wondering what city/venue has the best sound, acoustically speaking?

One of the best venues accustically in the UK is Birmingham Symphony Hall, however the tickets have been on sale for quite a while now so I don't know what the availability is like.

Seems no one here has been to any of the places for Bryan's tour.

I'll look into the tickets. If I come I'll be staying at Chapelthorpe, so I'll see how far it is from there.

Glasgow is one of bryan's favourite cities to perform in. The Royal Concert Hall is just a giant hi-fi, superb acoustics. I saw David Sylvian there as well as The Blue Nile perfect for their music.

Then there is the bonus of The Usher Hall in Edinburgh the next night just a 40 minute train journey away.

I can second John's comments about The Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow. One of the acts I have seen there was Elvis Costello accompanied by The Scottish National Orchestra, great sound.

The Usher Hall is also a wonderful venue, a very traditional concert hall. Even if you are seated at the back of the auditorium you are not miles away from the stage.

I don't know how these two venues compare to the rest but I can recommend them both.

I don't know about the best venue, Erland, but the nearest to Chapelthorpe (if I'm correct in thinking that it's near Wakefield in West Yorkshire...) would probably be York, then Sheffield.

You could easily get to the two Scottish venues from Yorkshire and, by happy coincidence, the York gig is on the night after them. Three gigs in three nights for your BFO mini-tour?!

Yes you are correct, it is Wakefield. I'll have to check distances and what place to choose. I do have relatives in Scotland somewhere. (Skye for sure as my great grandpa came from there).

Been to London but not Scotland, so maybe Glasgow would be a gas! Would love to try some good Scotch, before and after a show!

3 nights? It never came to mind! I'd certainly keep that in mind. :o

You've already had some good advice and naturally fellow Dilettantes are pushing the venues they know and love.
That said, I wouldn't discount London's Royal Albert Hall. If you can get the right seat it's difficult to do better. As you may already know, it's also a very beautiful venue and I think historic venues lift Ferry's spirits.
Wherever you go, it will be a hell of a show.
