So, in aggregate for Holland, Belgium, Sweden, how many copies of TJA were sold? 10,000? Or is that too optimistic...

Anyone know the sales figures overall?

It may even surpass Olympia for lack of sales.

Well, The Jazz Age is a great way to ensure his "appeal becomes more selective"

I don't know the overall sales figures, but the initial UK sales figures were similar to those for Olympia. It has remained in the Amazon top 200 for most of the time since its release in November. I think it's sold fairly well given that it is essentially a '20s jazz album. The huge number of positive reviews on Amazon - way more than for any other Ferry/Roxy album - suggest that it has had quite broad appeal (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jazz-Age-Bryan- ... theoffs-21).

Although number One on the Billboard Jazz Chart, TJA has yet to crack the main Billboard top 200 Album Chart.

TJA sales for last week were 2,739 - the #200 album sold 3,351 copies. Hopefully, making #1 on the jazz chart will encourage jazz enthusiasts to buy it.

I also noticed that TJA did not crack the top 200 in the Billboard album chart. Sadly, jazz records represent a minuscule part of the market for recorded music so I don't see TJA selling more than a few thousand more units in the USA before it runs out of steam...

TJA got decent press in the NY Times, the Chicago Tribune and some National Public Radio shows, but it didn't get reviewed on Terry Gross's "Fresh Air" which I'm sure was a disappointment to BF and his record company.

BF will successfully take the BFO on the road this summer and next fall in Europe, but I doubt that the BFO will ever make it to the States.

From a quick glance (and if I am incorrect I appologise now) I think there are still plenty of tickets left for the UK shows.

This isn't worth starting a new thread about, but BF is featured in a story in the latest issue of The New Yorker. While on his recent promo-visit to New York he spent time with a New Yorker correspondent watching a retro-jazz band at some club in NYC and chatting away between songs. Some old same old in terms of BF talking about TJA and how he loved jazz as a kid, buying 78s, etc. For what its worth, he's referred to as the "former" Roxy Music frontman.

It's been two years since Roxy last performed and what ever happened to the live album that was supposed to have documented that last tour? Just wondering...
