The news here is BF revealing that he had major heart surgery back in October 2012 (or about a month before TJA was released in late November). If I recall correctly, he also had a cardiac event back in April 2011 just before he went on the road to promote Olympia.
Who knows what tomorrow might bring...

Ageing Hipsters and old Mods & Rockers, Hopefully many more creative and happy years and great fandangos are ahead for Geordie's favourite son. By the sound of things he's had an operation to fix an irregular heart beat. Good for him - I've had a similar procedure myself and although I wouldn't put it at the top of my Christmas list, it's no big deal and I wish him well with it. The other thing I have in common with our hero is that we both saw the star/volt tour in 1967. Ferry describes it as a live changing experience and he's not wrong. What a show those guys put together. It's 46 years ago now and I remember it like it was yesterday - Sam & Dave, The Mar-Keys, Booker T & The MGs, Carla Thomas, Eddie Floyd and the absolutely electric Otis Redding. It was amazing. There was a sense of competition between the acts and they were all so pleased to be in the UK. It was marvellous, I will never forget it and I would absolutely love Ferry to interpret a few more of those classics. The other thing I would love to see him do is more instrumentals - TJA is outstanding and the more a play it, the more I get out of it.What a bunch of fabulous players those guys are — can't wait to see them on tour. Thanks for posting the interview Roxy. Regards, Windswept.

Let`s just hope he gets his ol`band together and comes up with some REAL music. The structuring of Phil`s guitar, the "background" sound of Andy`s sax or oboe. Late period Roxy, for sure. I wish Bryan would nurture the spirit of the 80s...

It was a musical graveyard; easily the worst period for music in my lifetime. No '80s revival please !!!

I agree there are bands from the 80s that are horrible. I just saw a Duran Duran show on telly. It was from Manchester and recorded not many years ago. It was some of the worst crap I`ve ever heard. Spandau Ballet, - uh, what a dread! Still there are those single songs that made up the decade, and which we remember, from names like Alphaville, Fiction Factory, Visage, Ultravox, Human Leage, Tears For Fears, Howard Jones...

There is no right or wrong here, just a matter of personal preference, but other than Tears For Fears , who were a cut above in my view, the rest of these names feature heavily in my list from '80s hell.
I wondered if I was being unfair to the acts from that period so I checked out a few Best Bands of the '80s type lists online, and I felt my heart sink as I ran down the list of vapid and turgid acts.
Thinking about it a bit more, even the acts who were already established going into the '80s struggled to produce much of note. What was it about those times that resulted in such a gawd awful crop?
Personal issues aside, no wonder Bryan's creativity dried up at that time !
Thank heaven for Prince and The Smiths !
