If you missed this show on Friday it is repeated tonight at 11.45pm and also on the iplayer for another few days, well worth a look :)

Nile Rodgers: The Hitmaker recounts a captivating and moving story of a man who has created some of the most sparkling and ebullient pop music ever recorded.

Contributors include: Nile Rodgers' fellow Chic members, singers Norma Jean, Alfa Anderson and Fonzi Thornton and keyboard player Rob Sabino, as well as recording engineers Bob Clearmountain and Robert Drake.

Other artists Nile has worked with talk passionately about his talents, including Sister Sledge's Kathy Sledge; Bryan Ferry; Steve Winwood; Johnny Marr; La Roux's Elly Jackson; Valerie Simpson; Debbie Harry and Chris Stein from Blondie and Duran Duran's John Taylor.

Great programme; the hour flew by!

Quite a career too: not just the disco era (e.g. Chic, Sister Sledge, Diana Ross etc.) either; I had no idea of the range of other artists he'd worked with (e.g. Bowie, Duran Duran, Madonna etc.).

Nice too that a guy who's had such an influence on BF's work was himself influenced as a young man by Roxy Music.

He came across as a genuinely nice guy and it is to be hoped that he fully recovers from the cancer scare mentioned near the end of the programme.

I arrived at Guilfest too late for Chic's set last year, but having spent tonight with my toes tapping (and remembering how well they were reviewed in this forum & elsewhere), I might just have to consider Glynde after all...

Very enjoyable, I ended up watching it again last night after seeing it on Friday. He has had an interesting life and is looking pretty well these days. I loved the story of how "Le Freak" was born  The way Bernard died must have been difficult to deal with, so tragic.

I'm guessing the clips of our man talking are quite recent.
