Having a musical lunchtime listening to a BF compilation CD-R created by a VRM friend to feature b-sides & rarities; lead off track is a personal favourite, As The World Turns. Have loved the song ever since it appeared in '77 on the flipside of This Is Tomorrow (although it didn't appear on In Your Mind or, as far as I'm aware, anywhere since...) and would love to hear it performed live. It would have been a perfect fit for the ATGB tour and would arguably mesh well with parts of this year's gigs: Colin Good would love the piano parts, I'm sure, and a synth could produce the string effects. If those who tread the corridors of power in Studio One are looking in here, please add this to my personal wish list for the autumn (together with the return of Another Time & That's How Strong...)!

Yes, I also like that song. I have it - as far as i remember - on a Japanese edition of "Will you love me tomorrow".
On my wish list for the UK tour: "Chain reaction"!

Yes a great track, I always thought it was too good a song for a b-side.
A few years ago I asked Eddie Jobson, on his web forum, what memories he had of the song, writing, recording, etc. and about Robert Fripp's excellent solo, this was his answer...
"As the World Turns" was supposed to be a track on Roxy's "Siren" album, but Bryan decided not to include it, deciding instead to use it as a b-side of one of his singles. A stronger memory for me than Fripp playing his solo on it, was recording the string orchestra in Abbey Road Studios, playing my composition and arrangement. That was my first orchestration played by a real orchestra—a departure from Ferry's first solo album ("These Foolish Things") on which I performed all the strings parts myself".
Not a great deal of info but I never knew it was originally intended for "Siren".

A very underrated track, I've always liked his vocal on this but I'm not sure if his voice his strong enough for it now. It turned up on the Japanese Mamouna EP as I think it was called along with four letter love, broken wings and she's leaving home (another hidden gem in the Ferry canon).

I bought a copy of this on Ebay mainly so I could have She's Leaving Home on CD  Mamouna (Single Edit) The 39 Steps (Eno Mix) As The World Turns She's Leaving Home Four Letter Love Broken Wings Is Your Love Strong Enough? Beautiful, wonderful, magical...always loved it and still have it on 7" but I play the B-sides CD quite often......the perfect opportunity to perform this live would be right now would it not? with the perfect setting and with the BFO in full flow behind him.
Picture the scene, its beautiful x

Most Elegant of Hipsters,
I am afraid that this missive will expose me as the ne'er-do-well, wastrel, impostor, unworthy, dilettante that I really am but I have to confess to never having heard "As The World Turns".
This huge gap in my education is driving me insane — particularly with renowned Roxologists raving about it.
I am forever humbled by this experience and am reminded that excellence is a journey not a destination!
If any of you third dan Ferryistas out there can put me out of my agony can you please contact me privately.
