The tales told here by BF are a bit arcane in terms of his musical career. But at least they are tales that haven't been talked about much previously.

It was an interesting read!!! Thanks Roxy!

Thanks, that was interesting! BF;s talent to see and remember small details shows even here. The only thing that disappoints me, is that he apparently has no interest in tennis - my sport!

You're welcome :)

I think the photo is taken in Studio One as the background looks familiar to other interviews/photographs that have been done there. I have definately spotted the tartan before!

I should add that The Green is a football/soccer journal magazine and this was the first issue. I thought I had posted it here when it came out but when I checked back through my posts I found I had not.

It is interesting that Williams moved on to Sports journalism but I guess a foot in both camps meant he got a good interview with Bryan. Bryan paid tribute to him in an interview before the Nottingham concert.

"Bryan Ferry interview: 'I owe my success to a Nottingham man"

Thanks very much Roxy - what a fascinating interview. I had no idea that Bryan was so into cycling. I too thought he enjoyed playing tennis . When I was a youngster ( a long time ago ! ) I used to buy every mag with BF in and compiled a huge scrapbook of cuttings from NME, Melody Maker, Disc and Sounds etc etc . I certainly have a photo of Bryan in his tennis whites clutching a racquet.

I have to admit that said scrapbook is in the loft so I need to have a rummage around to find it together with the photo !

A few years after leaving art college, one of my old art chums got back in touch by sending me a birthday card (home-made of course) with that very picture on it, with the headline "BF promotes his new single "Anyone For Tennis?"

I think the accompanying articel mentioned something about BF's hair needing a wash....what weird minutiae I've retained!!!

The photo in question was from an interview in Sounds magazine in summer 1976 to promote Extended play (price of love, etc)

Bryan often mentions in interviews that he was a member of a cycling club in his youth and how he loved cycling.

Below is the photo which I think Bryan refers to in the article, the one of him in the polo neck jersey and a couple of team photos.
