Bryan Ferry talks about how listening to New Orleans jazz as a teenager influenced some of the instrumental passages on some Roxy Music tracks.

Cher avion_eyes, Thanks a million for posting this. I loved the program. Being from the N.E it had special resonance. Although our hero was slightly ahead of me, I experienced so much of what he discussed and really benefited from hearing bands like the Animals who gained their influence from the NE Jazz scene. I used to visit Windows, the music store he mentioned and listen to my records in the same way. As he said, the club scene was absolutely vibrant with great haunts like Club A-Go-Go (the venue where I caught The Gas Board) and Greys. There were also some great independent boutiques. Marcus Price was such a cool place to buy your clothes and Marcus himself, was a huge Jazz head. Newcastle really was a beautiful city back then. Listening to him discuss his musical awakening and reflecting on AEWBF, makes you realise what a huge influence Jazz has had on his whole approach to music and when I was listening to them play NYC in Brighton it dawned on me how prominent the Jazz element really has been from the get go. Anyway - great days then — great days now! Regards, Windswept

Elegantly Ageing Hipsters, I omitted to mention, a snippet from AEWBF was played from his evening at Gateshead's 'The Sage'. Concrete proof of a recording - hopefully we'll get a DVD and a CD but failing that, a live album would be fine. Regards, Windswept

I must have had a particularly dozy week, as I logged on to iPlayer just to late to listen to this interview.
Did anyone commit it to CD-R perhaps? Thanks.

On radio two on christmas day at 8pm there is a two hour programme "Bryan Ferry For your pleasure" listed in the radio two shows for that day and given that quite a few programmes work there way onto radio two after being on 6 music or radio 4 that could be it.
