Post subject:  Bryan Ferry For Your Pleasure, Radio 2 Christmas Day 8 pm
I draw your attention to a highlight of Christmas as Radio 2 gives Bryan a two hour slot on primetime radio at 8pm on Christmas Day as he takes us on a personal musical journey through many of the songs and the genres of music that inspired and influenced his career, from 20's jazz to late 60's psychedelia. Expect a few words about Bob Dylan too.
My own ps. What a fantastic year for Ferry and a great way to end it.

A big thank you to avalon_eyes for bringing this tasty morsel to Windswept's attention.
I waited until our guests had gorged themselves into a festive stupor and until Mrs.Windswept was furtively surfing for gloves & shoes to match the handbag Santa had brought her, before discretely slipping on the cans and drifting away with our hero. And very informative it was too!
The objective of the programme was for him to introduce the music that had influenced him throughout his life and he addressed it with enthusiasm and great aplomb.
His choices really illustrated his eclectic taste and it was striking how he had both become addicted to music at a very young age and how he had been a complete musical magpie. Something that had doubtless laid the foundations for the Roxy soup.
He played everything from Duke Ellington and his jazz heroes through Phil Spector to Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and Sly Stone. His choice of tracks that had influenced him were quite varied and he described the personal relationship that he felt with them well.
Apart from listening to some great music, the thing that struck me most was the way the influence of his sister and his early indoctrination had led to him avoiding the tribal trap that many of his peers fell into. He truly loves all types of good music and no doubt that has fuelled his creativity and longevity.
A great way to escape the Turkey and I had a couple of great single malts to enhance the listening experience.
If it's on one of those catch up things it's well worth the effort.

It was good! I elected to listen without the can's. Instead, I sat in amongst them, 2 dozen or so.

Agreed with all that Windswept says about the show, other than to add, I counted 4 tracks played that he eventually wen't on to cover himself. Although I was surprised Brian Wilson never got a mention, Lou Reed did, bit in such a manner that I would suggest this may have been recorded before Reed's death. Bryan also mentions that Elvis played a big part in the scheme of things.

Don't see Bryan threatening Radio's 2's current band of spin masters but I doubt I he'd lose sleep over that. He put a lot, an awful lot of feeling into it though and as mentioned, it is worth catching up with.

Recorded on CD, Goodnight Irene, Don't Be Cruel, Will You Love Me Tomorrow?, That's How Strong My Love Is, The Tracks of My Tears, All Along the Watchtower, When Somebody Thinks You're Wonderful.

Tracks BF has played live in concert:- Body and Soul, Au Privave and Road Runner.

Also, I thnk John may have reported at one time that Like a Rolling Stone was one of the tracks recorded for Dylanesque but not used.
