Debauched Dilettantes,
Great article and nice to see that the "Taste Tarantula" is living out his days in great style in a real home and not digging up the road to make one of those monstrous, vulgar extensions!
Unlike those oligarchs and banker ne'er-do-wells who have turned parts of Chelsea,Kensington and Notting Hill into a war zone, ostracising us mere mortals in the process!
What a fabulous space he's got - Windswept is calling the decorators!
a bien tôt,
W

The WSJ magazine article was done at his private home in Chelsea not at his studio. There were several pieces in the press some years ago when he moved in. One even stated that Heidi Klum and Seal used to live there.

Well, I obviously missed the important role of Scott here. Sometimes you just have to read between the lines. Who would know it was from an interview? "Avonmore"..., I thought it was a parody. The first time I saw the Dylanesque cover, I thought it was a fake.

Note: The WSJ article is almost four years old (Dec 2010).

Yikes! That's not a very pretty metaphor.... or am I (again) missing out on something here?

If this is true ... then it's not really a good name for an album. Simultaneously comic (like a spoof), flat and bland. Not even that easy to say . Perhaps it was going to be the name of his aftershave.

'O Ye of little faith' indeed!

Bryan Ferry was interviewed by Michael Bracewell at his talk in Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago last night and he said himself that the new album is coming in November, I don't know why the article is being doubted.

Avonmore a parody? As Louize has suggested, Avonmore is an address in London which perhaps has a special significance to Bryan Ferry as did "Olympia". I don't find it too difficult to say but then maybe I am pronouncing it wrong. :) In my head it is Avon as in "have on" without the H, not Avon as in "hay von" or Stratford-upon-Avon.

8-)

It's just boring name and the shift from n to m doesn't flow well . Sounds like the name of a bungalow . Looking forward to the album tho !

Funny how the new album is torn into pieces before it's even officially announced... Sometimes the atmosphere in this forum makes me want to quote that passage from Goethe's Faust:

Quote:
Can you not speak but to abuse?
Do you come only to accuse?
Does nothing on the earth seem to you right?

Hast du mir weiter nichts zu sagen?
Kommst du nur immer anzuklagen?
Ist auf der Erde ewig dir nichts recht?

To which, of course, Mephisto replies:

Quote:
No, Lord. I find it still a rather sorry sight.

Nein, Herr! Ich find es dort, wie immer, herzlich schlecht.

Do we really have to be so Mephistophelean?
