If you go on You Tube and and search Bryan Ferry British Masters Chapter One, there is a short clip of the interveiwer entering the studio at Avonmore place. Its a small mews and the building used to be a dairy years ago. not a bad interveiw either.

There was a time when doing a thing like this really made the album legendary. The year was 1969, the band was The Beatles, and the album was Abbey Road. I think the copycats of today would do something similar without hesitation. However, Bryan is in a different class. All the same, could he do it? I`m thinking of the street of Avonmore on the cover with BF himself casually strolling ahead, not too visible, as a part of the streetscene?

Elegantly Ageing Hipsters,
Windswept is perplexed about the furore surrounding our hero's decision to title his new opus 'Avonmore'.
As the great le freak points out, nobody batted an eye lid when those scallywags from Liverpool called their LP 'Abbey Road'.
Every discerning dilettante knows that this part of London is precious to Geordie's favourite son. He has had his studio there since Nelson lost his eye and the first ever Roxy Music gig was played just around the corner at "The Hand & Flower" pub. Given his patronage of the area, Windswept is delighted that he is celebrating his long standing relationship.
As for Sanviva's idea that this could form part of a trilogy with 'Studio One' rounding it off; all is possible. 'Olympia' is at the top of 'Avonmore' which leads to 'Studio One' so there would be a logic to this.
In any event, the referendum has now been won and there will be a new album and Windswept would second Lonely Dreamer's appeal that Roxologists of all persuasions should unite behind our hero and support him as he sallies forth.
Much remains to be discovered. Does the album contain any other ready mades aside from 'Send In The Clowns'? Will the bar-room version of MTT feature? What will the artwork look like? Is it true that Rubinacci will be offering the artwork on his jacket linings?
Will there be a coffee book edition featuring bespoke swatches from A&S?
All will be revealed. One things for sure, The Taste Tarantula won't let us down and all in time for Christmas.
a bien tôt,
Windswept

Hmmm. Avonmore vs Abbey Road? A Battle of the Titans!

Perhaps, in homage to Paul M, the artwork for Avonmore will feature BF walking across the street in his bare feet! That would get the tongues a-wagging!!!

Since Nelson lost his eye. Ahhh. That's the type of wordplay that keeps drawing me back to the VRM Forum. Fussing and Fuming, Parsing and Praising. That what we do here. And it's a joyous thing...

Roxy, as far as I know it's pronounced "Ay-vun", like the county, river etc.

Helen, I rather suspect this was the big news; if the thunder has been somewhat stolen, Team BF might want to chuck in some UK tour details next Tuesday, however vague the plans may currently be. ;)

Thanks Smudge, I guess it's all in the accent ;)

Hopefully the official announcement on Tuesday will bring more details and it would be great if there was also news of a UK tour.

8-)

Mes Amis,
Zoot alors!
Our hero won't be seen anywhere without his Berlutis!
I just hope we don't get a million tourists with cameras blocking the road.
a bien tôt,
Windswept

That doesn't look like a reliable source at all. Maybe this "news" has even been randomly generated by a computer to attract clicks and generate advertising revenue. Wouldn't take it seriously.

Hipsters,
Doubtless all will be clarified with the "big announcement".
What is true is that prior to embarking on the "Can't Let Go" fandango our hero responded to a question — about the possibility of material for the new album appearing on the set list — by saying that at this juncture most of the band hadn't even heard the new album, let alone played any of it. This would imply that the project was well advanced and probably finished before he left for the US.
Let's hope he beefs up the band for the UK tour. New material or not, AEWFB will be a hell of an act to follow.
a bien tôt,
Windswept.

I wonder if there are going to be Bollywood dancers on stage with him?

:D
