Hi everybody from Germany,

it's October - time for the "SWR1 Hitparade". You can choose 5 of your all time favorites. SWR1 from Stuttgart will then play the 1.000 greatest songs of the last decades and the presenters will, of course, rock around the clock . I voted for Jealous Guy, More Than This, Dance Away, Slave To Love and Let's Stick Together. Not really my personal favorites but very likely to reach the top 1.000. Please support me with your votes (you don't have to copy my list). I'm afraid Led Zep will again win the race with "Stairway To Heaven" but we should at least try. Thanks for the link, Pianoman. I share your scepticism about the German radio listeners' taste, but I voted anyway. Couldn't help voting for The Bogus Man and Reason Or Rhyme, even though it's clear they don't have a chance for a higher ranking. My first three nominations were Jealous Guy, Love Is The Drug and Avalon. If we had a poll here in the forum I'd vote for completely different songs, but in a radio poll I think you have to vote for the mainstream stuff, everything else doesn't have a chance.

Thanks LD but it's okay, each time I guessed the captcha whirled another question, so it would be too long by the time you got the question, he page might stop & I'd have refill all that silly stuff like asking me for my address - which I put 300 Bogus Street. Why 300? Cos I was in that movie battling against the Spartans.

Thanks Erland and Lonely Dreamer for participating in the poll. That's it for this year - I am sure Led Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaven", Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and Dire Straits' "Brothers In Arms" will win the race again but our hero(es) should reach the top 1.000 at least with "Jealous Guy". Absolutely not my favorite Roxy song but their only number one hit single worldwide and thus the essence of their work in radio listeners' consciousness. Last week a friend (aged 51) asked me: "Oh, a new CD from Bryan Ferry - is he still alive?" Yes, he is ... And that's why I tried to persuade you to participate in the SWR1 poll.

PS: I will post the results within the next two weeks

South West German radio station SWR1 regularly plays 'Loop De Li'. And the presenters always mention BF's forthcoming new album and his concert at the Porsche Arena Stuttgart in December. Seems Bryan has a radio hit in the deep South of Germany .
