Good Evening to all Fellow Roxyologists and Ferryistas. It's Lori! I want to express My Thoughts and Feelings towards The Jazz Age Tour with The Bryan Ferry Orchestra. I as A State Side Fan was so looking forward to Bryan Ferry bringing This To My Country Where JAZZ MUSIC was BORN and RAISED in. When He eluded to possibly doing this at the End His Concert at Proms In The Park at Hyde Park I was so excited! Then He broke My Heart and did decided to NOT bring it to The U.S.A. However He did come To My Country with a Stripped-Down Band.
How could He NOT bring The Jazz Age Tour with The Bryan Ferry Orchestra to the very Country that begot Jazz Music in First Place?! If There was ANY Country on " This Island Earth " that DESERVED this more than any other was My Country, The U.S.A! There are countless Major and Minor Jazz Music Festivals that take Place all over The U.S.A. from the early Spring all through out The Summer into the early Autumn/Fall that this would have fit Right into perfectly! Plus doing Non Festival Concert performances in between those Festivals! You fellow fans and Members of This Hallowed Cyber Hall of Justice have No idea how Heart-Broken I was to find Out that Bryan Ferry chose to Rob the Birth-Place of Jazz of this truly One-In-A-Lifetime Musical experience. One that was A Ultimate Land-mark in Bryan Ferry's Solo Career. That could not be repeated. I had to settle for watching Concert clips of it on You Tube with great sadness and longing inside of Me for it. Knowing that the Fans in The U.S.A. would NEVER get this. It was THE DYLANESQUE TOUR Sequel for the State Side Fans.
So that makes 2 Tours that SHOULD have been Rightfully played in The U.S.A! as Bob Dylan was and is The U.S.A.'s most iconic Poets and Musicians! A true Legend in His own Right too.
Bob Dylan was BORN and RAISED in My Country!
Bryan Ferry's Dylanesque Tour belonged to be played There!
I get it that Bryan Ferry's Audience is significantly smaller and much more nichey in My Country. HOWEVER that does not mean that it deserves to be treated like what We Americans refer to as A " Red-Headed Step-Child." He should come to My Country much more than He does and just PLAY to the Audience that WILL show Up for Him, and forget about the One's Who don't.
I will share much more about how I feel in Future posts.
I also had to settle for watching The Dylanesque Tour Concert Clips on You Tube A far cry from the real thing being experienced First-Hand just like the Jazz Age Tour with The Bryan Ferry Orchestra that was to follow Years later.
It's just NOT Fair.
Those 2 Tours The State Side Fans deserved the most.
I would also like to point Out that most EXTENSIVE Tour that Bryan Ferry ever gave the North American Market in His entire Solo Career was the BETE NIOR TOUR. No Tour on that level ever since.
I am so sorry for having such strong and passionate Feelings, It is how I roll.
Love to all Who are Fans/Members Here of this unique Family, Lori.

Commercial reasons - money. Too many in the band? I remember him saying this about the Dylan band so I guess the same about the BFO.

Cher Lori,
Windswept's heart goes out to you!
Both the Dylanesque show & AEWBF were truly magical but I fear that Monsieur Gary is correct - the economic equation just doesn't work with the size of venue that he plays.
Windswept is quite sure our hero is a fully paid up Yankophile and that nothing would give him greater pleasure than to take his biggest and best shows to the US but doubtless the bean counters reign him in.
Selfishly, the Windswepts are hoping that normal service will be resumed for the UK leg and very specifically the Brighton fandango.
Mrs.W is already planning her outfit!
a bien tôt,
W

I think with Dylanesque it was indeed to do with money. The economy wasn't great and the exchange rate was poor. I would think the size of the BFO would have made touring here prohibitively expensive as well.

Good Evening to all Fellow Roxyologists and Ferryistas! It's Lori. I want to take this moment in time to share some more of how devesated and Heart-Broken I am about The Jazz Age Tour with The Bryan Ferry Orchestra. I as A State-Side Fan had to settle for watching The Jazz Age Tour Concert Clips on You Tube. That Tour's Concerts being PLAYED and PERFORMED everywhere else in the World except where it RIGHTFULLY belonged to be PLAYED and PERFORMED in. THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. This was just plain WRONG. Here is A reasonable and fair comparison/analogy. Suppose There was A Group/Band of American Musicians Whose chosen Genre of Music to make commitment/living at was CLASSICAL/ORCHESTRAL Music. They Go on Tour. However This Group/Band ONLY decides to Tour Canada, The United States Of America, Mexico. Plus Central and South American, Then The Caribbean Islands They DON"T Go to The U.K. and Western Europe and Eastern Europe, and perhaps Russia. Where EVERYONE knows that is Where CLASSICAL/ORCHESTRAL Music was Born and raised in. A American Group/BAND PLAYING what is essentially EUROPEAN Music, but DON"T bring the Tour There. How would European Fans feel about it? I reckon the same WAY.
I get the Feeling that Bryan Ferry's Management Team purposely wants to keep Him AWAY from Us fans in The U.S.A. It seems to want only Money from the following Markets: The U.K. ( Understandable You Guys and Gals are His Home-Town Countries Fan-Base. ) The Western European Market, The Eastern European Market. The Russian Market, The Australian Market. Plus on rare occasions The Oriental Market in Japan maybe the other Oriental Countries as well. Bryan Ferry's Management Team does not want The American Green-Back/Dollar. With A Second Set of Divorce Bills to pay, You would think that He would want to make as much American Money as He can.
It seems that His Management Team is satisfied with Money made from all Markets except America. It looks like Bryan Ferry is on the surface being a Cheap-Skate, However it is really His Management Team that is.
How many other Tours are Us Fans in The U.S.A. going to be deprived of? That now makes 2 major Ones. is the Avonmore Tour the 3RD One? To make a Hockey Term out of it as A Hat Trick?
He better NOT. To have The Jazz Age Tour with The Bryan Ferry Orchestra DENIED to Us Fans makes 2 Tours that We Rightfully SHOULD have had.
It was just plain WRONG Ethically and Morally and Concsiously.
I will have a similar post about The Dylanesque Tour sharing more thoughts and feelings of a similar Nature. I suppose that in return for the rest of the World getting Roxy Music and all Members of Roxy Music Solo We in The U.S.A got BOTH Duran Duran and U2 as a Trade-Off Both Bands/Groups are in The U.S.A. on a pretty consistent basis. Every Tour of Theirs We get. I suppose Their Management Teams wanted The American Green-Backs/Dollars much more than Bryan Ferry's ever did.
The Jazz Age Tour was the Second best Mile-Stone Tour of Bryan Ferry's career We were unjustly and wrongly DENIED it.
It was just not FAIR for His Management Team to advise and tell Him NO.
All of My Loove to all Who reside in These Hallowed Cyber Halls of justice, Lori.

Lori:
To paraphrase a great Micheal Corleone line from The Godfather: "It isn't personal, it's business"

If the business/economics of touring in the US was more favorable for BF then he would gladly do it more. But they are not. And the bigger the touring ensemble, the the less favorable the business/economics of a tour become. That's not unique to BF, it applies to every artist who goes out on a concert tour.

Also, the notion that BF's Management Team is some distinct enterprise that operates separately from BF is IMHO not something that conforms to reality. Bryan Ferry is the BF Management Team. Some people might work for him, but he makes all the meaningful decisions that govern his professional life...

Good Evening to all Fellow Roxyologists and Ferryistas! It's Lori. I want to share A few more Thoughts on This. DCJ with BOTH The Dylanesque Tour and The Jazz Age Tour with The Bryan Ferry Orchestra He was PLAYING/PERFORMING Our Music! Both Tours Rightfully belonged to be PLAYED and PERFORMED in Our Country! From all the stories I read about both of them They were magnificent Mile-Stones in Bryan Ferry's Solo Career. 2 of His biggest and best Concert Tours of His Solo Career. He should have brought them to Us.
As I stated above Both Duran Duran and U2 are in Our Country pretty consistently. Their Management Teams don't care about how bad the Economy Is from Time to Time or how bad The Exchange Rate is From Time To Time They want The American Green-Backs/Dollars No matter what.
" Life is Tough " as A State-Side Fan.
I know that Bryan Ferry makes all of the decisions about His Professional Life I just Thought He had A Management Team in charge of some aspects of His career.I have another post in The Roxy Music Musical Thread That some Fans may find interesting.
The Business aspect may have to be explained to Me in much more Detail.
Love to all Who post in The Cyber Halls Of Justice, Lori.
