Hi,
We've already been given a couple of names on musicians already confirmed on the forthcoming 'Avonmore' album:
Flea,Mark Knopfler,Johnny Marr,Marcus Miller,Nile Rodgers and
Ronnie Spector.
His own son Tara was mentioned in the 'Mojo' Magazine article.
Besides,'the usual suspects' like Neil Hubbard,Andy Newmark and
Chris Spedding will figure but I'm only guessing.
I remember American drummmer Rick Marotta from 'The Bride Stripped Bare' sessions being mentioned in a interview I read on the net earlier this year though I can't exactly recall which.
Personally,it would be nice also to see the names of Messrs. Eno/Mackay/Manzanera/Thompson credited but we'll see when the album is released.
Do you have any guesses on names ?

Kind regards,
Henrik

I doubt we'll be seeing any Roxy guys among the credits - if that were the case the customary official 'fanfare' would have been heard for miles around. ;)

Any guy from the Avalon album would be welcome. Neil Hubbard, Andy Newmark, Neil Jason, Jimmy Maelen, Fonzi Thornton, Yanick Etienne, but of course, there shouldn`t be too many totally.

Well despite the impressive roll call (or maybe even because of it?), the scant review in the new issue of Mojo earns a disappointing 2 stars. :(

And Mojo have missed Ferry off their top 10 dream Dylan covers.
Although there is an outstanding list to compete with:

Well, there's a long list of very talented musicians who may not be on the new album as they are excused from natural causes :
Jimmy Maelen (percussion) died 1988 from leukemia
Alan Spenner (bass) 1991
David Williams (guitar/bass) 2009
Mark Smith (bass) 2009
Mick Green (guitar) 2010
John Gustafson (bass) 2014

There's a chance though that we will hear Mr. Williams' rhythm guitar on some of the older tracks that have been
re-made/re-modeled ('Midnight Train' ?)

Kind regards,
Henrik

Did you read it in it`s entirety? Remember, this is the reason why somebody like it. "But, hey, that`s why I like it", somebody said before the release of Olympia. It`s quite easy, when you`re not a fan, to dismiss a whole album just because it doesn`t sound like "Revolver", an album, despite it`s fame, whose B-side I find rather doubtful.

There was barely an 'entirety' to it le freak. Just a handful of sentences sadly, read in about 20 seconds.

I see. Some reviews are like that. Question is, who is the one who needs a reality check?

HH zwei (a radio station from Hamburg) wrote about 'Avonmore':

'Das Album, das neben den zwei Coverversionen "Send In The Cows" (Stephen Sondheim) ...' :D

Apart from this funny mistake they called 'Brian' and his band 'Roxy Musics' 'glam rock' musicians, wrote that BF had covered a song composed by 'Robert Palmers' and Todd Terje's home country mutated from Norway to Sweden. High-quality journalism? Luck of the draw ...
