Post subject:  BF's "lost" songs

When I visit Stockholm every few months, friends jokingly ask if I'm off to buy more Abba records; well, a fortnight ago it sort of became a reality... :o

As far as I'm aware, there are only two recorded BF songs which have never been released by the great man himself; one of these is The Way You Do, which appears on Frida's album Something's Going On.

I mentioned this in conversation with the owner of a great record shop where I've spent a fair bit of cash on rare Swedish jazz vinyl; he promptly fished out a mint condition copy of the Frida LP and insisted that I accept it as a gift (nice people, the Swedes!).

The song is reminiscent of BF's Avalon era songs and the album (produced by Phil Collins and still easy enough to find on CD) sounds very much of that time; some will find that more of an attraction and others less so, I guess.

Now I'd better belatedly seek out a copy of Roger Daltrey's Parting Should Be Painless LP (rare & expensive on CD), which contains BF's song Going Strong, which is described in one Amazon review as similar to The Main Thing...

I know the Frida album quite well. It`s like Abba with an edge. There are two great songs, To Turn The Stone (Belotte/Moroder), and I Know There`s Something Going On (Ballard). Then there are som OK songs and the rest are fillers. I think I have to listen very closely to find that The Way You Do sounds like an Avalon era song. Immidiately it just sounds very anonymous. This is an album that doesn`t cost much in the used marked. You could almost get it for free.
