Will the backing band for the Bryan Ferry 2015 UK tour be the same as the one he used on Later With Jools Holland? I hope so as they were crash hot and they did a storming version of Virginia Plane on the show. |

Maturing Modernists, Elegantly Ageing Hipsters & Debauched Dilettantes, This is the most important of questions and in the absence of a full reunion of the AEWBF cast, Windswept would urge our hero to retain the existing line up with the exception of guitars and key boards. In these vital areas Windswept would respectfully submit that the attentions of Messieurs Good, Thompson and Spedding are needed urgently! Windswept also can't agree with samtheman35's appreciation of the recent rendition of 'VP' on Jools. Frankly it was Roxy Lite (™ DJC). And although one can understand our hero's desire to rock out with a different line up after the absolute splendour that was AEWBF ( he also changed things up before after 'ATGB' & 'Frantic') this outfit needs way more depth and a heavier sound. Anybody in doubt should listen to 'Live In Lyon'. The difference is obvious. No disrespect to anybody as all are fine musicians. Salutations, Windswept |

Salutations, Windswept I agree to a degree but I would add TGPT to your list. To beef up the sound and unfortunately I just can't watch Cherise play. Too much like Keith Moon in the visual department. ![]() However, I doubt there will be any changes. |

Maybe there will be some changes to the band for the 2015 tour, but it seems unlikely. BF likes talking about his "new young band" and I doubt this will change in the near future. |

Hopefully the creation of this thread will give the Colin Good Fan Club an outlet for their feelings, which seem to have been surfacing all over the place! ![]() Regardless of whether his departure was BF's decision (and nothing I've read anywhere suggests this) or CG's own (more likely, as he must have had very limited time left for his vintage jazz pursuits, e.g. with the Basin Street Brawlers), I don't see BF as the sort to go chasing after ex-band members, pleading with them to return to the fold. Nor, indeed, should he; life goes on and another door opens... As for Ollie, he's a terrific talent and a lovely bloke, but his style is arguably similar to that of Quist, who is playing well and deserves to stay. I assume that Ollie is still trying to promote Ollie Forrest too, which was why he left BF's employ in the first place... Spedding would be welcome back any time, although he doesn't deserve to play second or third guitar behind anyone (despite the fact that he seems content to do so). I read that the War Of The Worlds show, with which he's been heavily involved, will cease touring soon, so perhaps his return is the most likely of the three? Time will tell... In the meantime, I'm looking forward to Munich! ![]() |

[quote="Smudge"] "As for Ollie, he's a terrific talent and a lovely bloke, but his style is arguably similar to that of Quist" Happy Hedonists, Windswept would never suggest that our hero would or should run after former band members. Apart from the fact that his assistant doubtless has their phone numbers, to run in Berluti shoes is not always easy! Methods of communication apart, he would seriously suggest that Ollie is brought back into the fold ASAP and certainly before next year's Brighton fandango. Unlike Monsieur Smudge, try as he might, W2 finds no similarity between the style of the great Mr.Thompson and Jacob Quistgaard whatsoever. Quist is a good guitar player whilst Ollie, IWNSHO, is a great guitar player and is on the way to becoming his generation's Hendrix! Frankly, Windswept feels he is that good and the thundering contribution he made to AEWBF is a concrete example of his capacity to add a depth of sound and texture that is the domain of the greats. As for Chris Spedding, he is one of the greats! He played beautifully alongside Ollie throughout most of the 'Olympia' tour and the interplay between them was first class and gave the band a heavier more textured feel that Windswept pines after. That said, all Ferry is good Ferry (except 'Is Your Love Strong Enough') and W2 wishes all Ferryistas and Roxologists attending the remaining Fandangos of this year well and hopes that the set lists are resplendent with lots from 'Avonmore'. Salutations, W2 |

Ollie, IWNSHO, is a great guitar player and is on the way to becoming his generation's Hendrix! Thanks for keeping it humorous, Windswept2; I'm sure Ollie would enjoy a laugh at this as much as I did! ![]() For the record, I'm fairly sure that this generation's Hendrix will be... Hendrix! There's been nothing played on a rock guitar since he left us that he couldn't have played in his sleep, ISNSHO... |
