Nb a comedian recently said that obviously all the jokes have been done, it's just how you reinterpret them...
Moreover, every single note, chord, rhythm and almost every melody in the history of popular music has already been invented.
In the meantime I am a little bit fed up with all those journalists in my own country (and elsewhere in the world) who are trying to tell me that Bryan Ferry 1. is doing the same thing since 'Avalon' over and over again ('Play it again, Bryan'), 2. has always employed too many of the same musicians ('For what do you need 9 guitar players on one track ??'), that 3. his voice isn't what it used to be (don't journalists get older ??), that 4. he has polished up some very old songs (like Pink Floyd, Simple Minds, Stevie Nicks and so many others in 2014) and that 5. Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney et alii are far better and more creative at the same age (I really read that today !!).
So I decided to be even more thankful for this new album called 'Avonmore'. An album of an artist who has recorded and performed a widespread range of styles from art rock to dance floor funk, from folk songs to swing jazz. An artist that is, unlike John Lennon, George Harrison, Robert Palmer, Rick Wright, Gerry Rafferty, JJ Cale and so many others, still alive! Who could have been dead in a plane crash many years ago - thanks to God that didn't happen. An artist who supplies his fans with songs and concerts they (mostly) like because they always liked the man, his band, his personality.
BTW: Elton John, Eric Clapton and even David Bowie do what they always did. They entertain their fans with good music without any revolutionary aspects. If we want to hear revolutions we still have got 'RM' and 'For Your Pleasure'. But if Roxy Music 2005/6 would have worked, they wouldn't have been revolutionary any more ...
That's pianoman's humble opinion. And now, let's have fun with 'Avonmore'
