I spent part of Christmas Day really really enjoying listening to the vinyl Avonmore and my new copy of Yellow Cocktail Music on vinyl. I was so impressed with the packaging of the vinyl Avonmore I remembered that YCM had been released in Germany on blue vinyl. The price was pretty high at the time and since I had the download I didn't jump. Well a couple of years ago after a few attempts with cheap usb turntables I bought a pricier professional one to rip obscure vinyls and 78's I've been collecting for my Victrola to MP3. Now I've gotten a small amp and using a set of Bose computer speakers the turntable is doing double duty play vinyls as it should be done. Also these new 180 gram vinyls are worth the money. So I went on Amazon a few weeks ago on a whim to see if YCM was available. It was and not quite outrageous but affordable at $35. No shipping because I have Prime. I did it. Low and behold it shows up in less that 2 weeks after the original date was 6 weeks out. So right before Xmas it arrives. I share it with all the members of this CyberHall this truly a work of art. It comes in a beautiful gatefold cover with a 20 page good size booklet. The record is released by Sony Classical. With this and Avonmore on vinyl Bryan has recreated the days of great album art again. Reminds me a bit of TBSB.

Mes Amis, What a fabulous gate fold. It makes me hanker after a vinyl relaunch in the Windswept household. 'Yellow Cocktail Music' is also a great album! Salutations, W2 |

Just after Christmas my shaky resolve weakened and I bought the limited edition blue vinyl version. I figured I'd better not wait any longer if I ever intended picking it up; black vinyl copies were around £25, while the advertised blue vinyl ones were invariably outside the UK and already fetching £35-£40 plus postage... Pleased to have tracked a sealed one down for £20... ![]() |
