Production rehearsal - 5th May
Belfast

The band seems now complete with a mystery violin player! I hope all goes well for tomorrow and anyone going to Belfast enjoy the opening show of the tour!

Elegantly Ageing Hipsters,

It looks like we have a good set list — although not quite to the standard of W2's dream proposal — it is nice to see the 'Avonmore' album strongly featured and the inclusion of 'Beauty Queen' and 'Bete Noire' are more than welcome.

Windswept is also extremely excited about the inclusion of Lucy Wilkins.
What a great Violinist/Key board player she is. Her ability to play those old Brian Eno/Eddie Jobson parts with such panache should really add value and it would be great to see her let loose on 'Out Of The Blue'. W2 can't wait to see her play 'Bete Noire'.

More than this, do we have any reports from the front?

How was the SOUND and production?

Do we have a video back drop and dancers?

What is the tour brochure like?

Are there any sartorial developments to discuss? (W2 has to confess to some concerns about our hero's new tailor).

Would you Ferryistas out there post without delay. W2's excitement cup is starting to run over!

Salutations,
W2

Hipsters,

There is a good review on line by The Belfast Telegraph.

Windswept's technological challenges prohibit him posting it but doubtless the phenomenal Roxy will catch it and add it to this thread.

There is also a photo but it's insufficiently clear to warrant a sartorial commentary - W2 will keep his powder dry.

Regarding the set list, I don't want to be too demanding but could someone have a word with our hero and persuade him to make a small adjustment to the set list:

1) It would be great to replace 'Bob Dylan's Dream' with 'Gates Of Eden'. He would still be getting his Zimbo fix by delivering his haunting and shimmeringly beautiful interpretation of 'Gates'. Mrs W also loves this one. It makes her cry.

2) 'Soldier Of Fortune' is, IWNSHO, a much better track than 'One Night Stand' and as such should replace it.

Last but by no means least, if he could get to work on the bar room arrangement of 'The Name Of The Game' and have it in place for the Brighton gig he would make an old Ferrryista very happy!

Salutations,
W2

There is an even better review in 'The Irish News' who gave the whole of their 2nd page to the concert!I will post it later on today.

The concert was remarkable. The memory of the whole of the Belfast Waterfront signing along to 'Virginia Plain' will remain with me forever. I brought along a few non-Ferryistas and they were all blown away by it.

Beautiful lighting- great depth and texture of sound. The axis between the 2 guitarists and bass player is excellent. Jorga was brilliant as usual.I had the luck to bump into Bobbi after the show and tell her how brilliant it was.
