Feeling Lost In the Middle of a Storm

What Roxy/BF songs are the most melancholy

I see Windswept2 mentions A Song For Europe expresses loss so well

David and I in happier days About 6 years ago

If you're talking melancholy after a lost love, you can't really top Song For Europe, as has been said. But you can trace different levels of melancholy with Bryan, for starters:

2H.B. captures the final bits of Casablanca perfectly, i.e. sad to lose her, but it was great while it lasted, hey, lets get on with life...

Strictly Confidential - I find this borders on serious depression, Faustian.

Sunset - alone again and another day lost, beautiful imagery and wordplay (red-letter light day, postscript you trace).

Dance Away, Spin Me Round, both have that sense of the party's over but you'll still go the next one just in case.....

Solo stuff, I probably think When She Walks in the Room...even references Lolita and "the sound of her laughter"....

Hello Rendezvous,
Thank you for that post. I love your observation on the different levels of melancholy in Bryans lyrics, and I especially agree with your comment on Strictly Confidential, those lyrics are VERY dark. I also want to add his interpretations of Where and When and These Foolish Things. While not actually written by him they do convey perfectly that sense of sadness and loss.
Add to these the new one Lost from Avonmore.
Though every song on Avonmore overall has a very melancholic dark mood.
I'm really trying to think of any of his lyrics that don't :|
I guess people seek out music that best fits their mood So True for me
