Philosophical Philanderers,

Spring will shortly be with us and as our hero treads the boards again every old hipster's heart will yearn for the perfect set-list.
W2 thought he'd get his in first in the hope that 'The Bonny Lad' will just print it off and start rehearsals over Christmas. He has made the assumption that the band line up will remain the same.
Here it is:

1. Another Time Another Place (with backing vocalists handling the
first verse and our hero making his entrance and kicking off with
"Drive Down Any Highway..." - this is NOT a W2 original it was
suggested by another renowned Roxologist and is just such a
sublime way to start the show)

2. Avonmore (new stuff)

3. Bete Noire (a must for Lucy fans)

4. Beauty Queen ("Valerie please..." - the Brighton performance was
tremendous and this gem must be kept)

5. Serenade ("Darkness falls..." - for the first time since '73)

6. 2HB (W2 wants to be moved by the "screen dream" one more time)

7. The Name Of The Game (this gem just has to see the light of day
live).

8. Reason Or Rhyme (his best song in recent years)

9. Stronger Through The Years

10.Tara (BF interval & suit change).

11.Take A Chance With Me (just a great way to re-start)

12.Smoke Gets In Your Eyes (because it has to..)

13.More Than This

14.Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues (W2's favourite Dylan fix)

15.Soldier Of Fortune (one of Avonmore's best )

17.If There Is Something

18. Out Of The Blue (more Lucy please...)

19.Do The Strand (first climax - band leaves stage).

(encore)

20. Johnny & Mary (the best track on Avonmore and a great way for
our hero to re-enter)

21. All Along The Watch Tower (let's fandango)

22. Editions Of You

23. Casanova

24. Re-Make/ Re-Model (final climax)

(exit stage left for limo and five star reviews)

Roxologists please note that this is a step change as W2 feels it's time to away from the LITD,LST, JG finale. It's become too corporate.

In terms of set it would be great to have some movie back-drops and sartorially, A&S needle cord is the way to go but with cravat - at-least until the interval.

Salutations,
W2

W2
Your setlist (and attached footnotes) was so brilliant that it motivated me to make an actual comment.

It is perfect.

It needs passing up the line.

I fear we down under will not get another tour, so a setlist as brilliant as this on DVD/CD/VINYL/8-TRACK etc gets my money.

Bonsoir, mes amis!

I really appreciate W2:s set list, most of all because it is realistic, not a personal dream list. We have to understand that the broad public will be disappointed if they are not given what they come for. So does BF and I think in recent years he has cleverly divided his concerts in an interesting part and in one part for the audience. i also support the idea of having The name of the game in the show. A polished, modern version of that song can be something special. BĂȘte noir and Out of the blue are great songs that becomes magical when LW is around. And, yes, Reason or rhyme is one of BF;s best songs ever. Perhaps an "exotic" version of Limbo should be added. Personally, I prefer when the concert ends with Jealous guy. All in all, I sign W2;s wish list. I might even go to Reykjavik to see the show!

Having had my prayers for Beauty Queen answered in spring 2015, I'll put in a hopeful bid for Strictly Confidential twelve months on.

I think Take Me To The River may be the only track from TBSB yet to make a live appearance, so it would be nice to tick that box too. Not sure BF has ever sung Crazy Love when I've been present either (it was an instrumental opener in Dublin "with strings"...).

Anything from the horribly underrated IYM album will always be welcomed with an open heart.

Oh, and a little shake up of the set list between the Wed & Fri gigs at the Palladium would be a nice reward for the stalwarts who have booked for both gigs (i.e. not an absolutely identical rerun of Wed on Fri please). :)

Such wonderful songs on that set list WS2! :D

I also think Reason or Rhyme is fantastic, one of his very best. Casanova an absolute must. I love watching how he has done Casanova through the years on his videos.
How about IYLSE? ;)
More Than This and These Foolish Things would be great.

Wouldn't a "noir" Johnny and Mary type backdrop be divine, deep shadowy black and white like the video and the new "Driving Me Wild"....
"Lost" from Avonmore
Sentimental Fool would be a treat....

And Oberon, I agree He has to do Jealous Guy.

Bonjour!

Blue lagoon for the Icelandic show?

W2, your list is fabulous. Still I would like to hear Running wild rather than Editions of you. And something from Mamouna, yes, why not Mamouna!

About the band, I guess Jorja will be out - and deeply missed.

Cher Oberon,
W2 is VERY tempted by Iceland and had he known about it before The Palladium would definitely have done it. He now has tickets for London (not great seats unfortunately) but phoned the Icelandic venue aujourd'hui only to discover that sales are being made by Tix.is and not them. The link on BF's site takes you to the venue itself who aren't selling the tickets - quelle surprise!
W2 sometimes thinks that The Bonny Lad's logistics are done by the gang that can't shoot straight.
As things stand he thinks he'll stick with London.
Regarding the set list. W2 shares your enthusiasm for both 'Running Wild' & 'Mamouna' but it would be a huge tempo change substituting it for 'Editions Of You'. He will have to think!
Salutations,
Windswept

I would highly recommend Harpa as a venue, both inside (acoustics) & out (appearance), having been there for BF's appearance a couple of years ago.

Why not book there and, if necessary, resell your Palladium tickets? I'm sure there are members here who would be interested in the London tickets. Just a thought... :)

How about this for a set list :

Is your Love strong enough
Dance with life
I put a spell on you (yage version, extended mix)
Wonderful World
....

Ok...I can't go on with this  . I tried to compile an ironic set list with all the bad tracks. But guess what? It's pretty tough to come up with a whole concert full of bad tracks. The repertoire is that good. I don't even dislike IYLSE (sorry W2).

Oh dear.

Anyway: @smudge totally agree with Strictly Confidential. It won't happen though. Even less likely that Bitters End. Shame.
