He also did that version on the As Time Goes By tour and very good it was as well. That little trumpet solo by Erinco Tomasso added a lot to it as well.

I also love the Jools Holland collaboration of The Only Face and prefer it to the Mamouna original. The smokey basement bar atmosphere they create in my ears is just wonderful.

My choice for the Roxy cover is this unreleased version of Running Wild, I love it! :)

So far Bryan has re-recorded and releases:

2HB (B-side to A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall)
Chance Meeting (B-side to The In Crowd)
Re-make/Re-model (Be- Side to You Go To My Head)
Sea Breezes (B-side to Let's Stick Together)
Casanova (b-side to What Goes On)
Trash 2 (B-side to Trash)
Manifesto (B-side to Over You)
Mother Of Pearl (Ordinary Decent Criminal soundtrack)
The Only Face (With Jools Holland)
In Every Dreamhome A Heartache (With Jane Birkin)
A Fool For Love (Piano version)
Love Is The Drug (20's vocal version)

Plus The Jazz Age album.

If you could choose a song for Bryan to re-record what would it be and in what style.

I would love to hear him do a duet with Kate Bush on Strictly Confidential

I always thought a duet with Amy Winehouse on Beauty Queen, backed by Roxy Music would be a sure fire way to return the band to the charts.

That really is a terrific version. Glad I downloaded while it was available. I listen to it often. I even knicked the feel of the arrangement for one of our own songs.

I think Kate bush would be suited to a straight cover of 'Chance Meeting' - I think she could carry that off on her own.

I love how this post has developed.

Roxy, thank you for the link to Running Wild, I found the original a bit overblown, this version is so much better, very Dylanesque with that shimmering organ undertow, maybe Bryan felt it was too copyist!?

And to answer the question about what he should re-record....Howabout Pyjamarama with Stsve Jones (pistols) and Siouxsie!? Or Mother of pearl with those two and Iggy doing the manic intro!!??

You know it makes sense.
