I can't resist putting in my twopence worth. I like the Bride album. Sign of the Times should have been the first single. The b-side was, however, appalling, and ruined the Roxy and Ferry canon of interesting, experimental, even whimsical, flips. The video for Sign of the Times was strange, Bryan in pseudo Siren tour GI outfit and a beard, very confusing, and he looked older than his years. On the Kenny Everett show.....well, I have a theory that men occasionally grow beards to hide their image from emotional crisis. Bryan was, in my opinion, really struggling to cope around that time. He looked terrible, and I was not surprised What Goes On did so poorly as a single. |
