Pretty sure he was lip-synching (miming). Am I correct???
If so, why????

I hate it and can't understand why he would do that.
Any thoughts?

Nick

It is definitely miming as it was identical to the CD . It was disappointing especially with all the band there.

I'm pretty sure he mimed on loose women as well (notice Colin Good appeared on Titchmarsh but not loose women) as the performances sounded like the single mix for you can dance. It'll be interesting to see what he performs on Jools Holland.

The Loose Women performance was definitely lip-synced and not not very convincingly I might add. At the beginning the drum/cymbal crash are way off. I mean waaaaay off. I can't imagine that BF was very happy about it, but his son is the drummer so maybe his famous temper remained in check...

Can someone tell me why people dont sing live? And in these Ferry examples is it because trying to get close to the CD versions would be so difficult given the heavy production.? Live is often so much better.

Because, sadly, his voice is going.

He has really gone down in my estimation after this (and I'm going to see Roxy twice Jan/Feb 2011).
I am looking forward to it though.
But why mime???????????

Jools Holland will be interesting!

All the recent TV appearances have certainly been miming. But given the number of musicians on Olympia, and the production, I think playing any track live will be very difficult (as per live renditions of tracks off Avalon etc). So the Jools set will be interesting as he certainly can't mime on that show. I can't see the performance sounding much like the album version.

Having just released a new album, he is going here, there and everywhere, giving lots of interviews. This may have strained his voice since he also had a pretty bad cold recently (as we could see through the link on this forum to an item on German TV).

Looking forward to Jools Holland next week, and in the meantime I hope you’ll enjoy this song from some time ago, live and stripped to the basics: Ferry, piano, violin – hauntingly beautiful. (I’d like to hear some of the songs on Olympia stripped like that.)
