The NYTimes had a big story today about how Brexit is a big headache for Brit bands trying to tour in Europe in the (hopefully) post-Covid Era. See:

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/16/arts ... uring.html

I wonder how this is impacting BF's tour plans, because he has played a lot of past gigs on the continent. Brexit certainly didn't make his ability to tour any easier methinks...

Cher DJC,
The article is behind a paywall but Windswept feels sure this will be resolved once those involved get over themselves.
Euro venues are heavily reliant on British acts and this peace of nonsense will disadvantage the small countries big time.
It’s the Scandinavian countries and the Baltic states who will be the biggest losers.
Acts will go thru’ the bureaucracy for the big countries but for one night in Copenhagen- W2 thinks not.
Another example of the combined stupidity of our political masters.
Let’s just hope we get a U.K./USA tour.
Salutations,
W2

NYT paywalls are a needless headache and not always predictable. Sorry...

A problem focused on in the article is the rule that Brit trucks can only load/unload three times in the EU before they have to return to Britain. Presumably such problems can be addressed in a straightforward manner, but Brexit politics never seems to be straightforward, at least as far as I can tell from this side of the Atlantic...

Cher DCJ,
Worry not, when this crass stupidity manifests itself in hundreds of venue closures post covid, President Macron lui-meme (also known as ‘The Sun King’ will be helping to unload the trucks !

When the latest dates were cancelled it seemed clear from the press release that logistics other than those related to covid were a contributory factor.

Whilst our "European friends and partners" will indeed be culpable were this to happen, let's not lose sight of the fact our own government (using the word in the loosest possible capacity) signed up to inflicting the current dogma and mindless bureaucracy on its own citizens engaged in the arts. If we want someone to blame, we'd do well to look a lot closer to home than Monsieur Macron.
