Hedonistic Hipsters,
Bonne annee a tous !
Windswept has received a very welcome email from Spotify advising him that our hero’s interpretation of Jack Lawrence’s 1939 song is available.
Originally recorded by ‘The Ink Spots’, the single went on to be one of the biggest sellers ever with over 10 million copies sold.
Ferry’s take was recorded with Colin Good and is said to have been the inspiration for the ATGB project.
That said, the cut never made it onto the album but was released as the ‘B’ side of the ATGB CD single.
As a non singles buyer this meant that W2 missed it completely and today was his first listen - his timbers were well and truly shivered and he has been playing it incessantly.
W2 has no idea why the track didn’t make it onto the album. It’s a fabulous rendition and every bit as good as any other track.
The arrangement is truly superb and comme d’habitude the Goodster’s piano playing is off the Richter scale.
Windswept will continue to pray to The Penshaw Gods for a new Ferry/Good project.
Meanwhile Hipsters - listen in on Spotify.
Salutations a tous,
W2

You are missing a lot of tracks if you are not buying singles:

Cher,
J.O’B - Happy New Year.
Yes, Windswept could well be.missing out. The last single he bought was ‘Virginia Plain’ in ‘72 and that was only because it wasn’t originally on their debut album.
Before that it was ‘You Really Got Me’ by the Kinks in ‘64 and he has only bought LPs since.
What really interests W2 are any songs from the ATGB period that didn’t make it onto the album. Evidently there was another version of ‘You Go To My Head’ ? If true, W2 would love to hear it as he considers the original quite weak.
Salutations and a big thank you for keeping this site going.
Windswept.

I didn’t know there was another version of “You go to my head. “
I do recall a young Ferry obsessed Avalon Eyes going to his local record store several days in a row asking if they had this single in stock. 1975 ! Looking back it was an oddly timed release , betwixt Country Life and Siren.
