Yes, that's what he said. By that I took it to mean no promoter on board or they didn't think it would be profitable enough.

It would be great to see some shows in NYC.
I caught him with Roxy at Madison Garden in 2001 and at Radio City in 2003. The Garden was great but the repeat at Radio City was a little tired.
The best for me, was his 2002 solo gig at the Beacon. Boy, did he knocked one out of the park that night. Phenomenal band, set list and accoustics. Loved it to bits.
I caught up with him in Paris on his Dylanesque tour and he told me that he would love to tour the US but financialy, with the size of his band, it really is a problem.
Regarding popularity, he can certainly sell out on the East & West coast.
Hopefully, he'll get there with Olympia. Meanwhile, I've just bought tickets to see him in Vienna - great venue, the state Opera House.
Regards, Windswept.

I think the problem then and I am sure is now is the strength of the pound against the dollar. Most of the musicians and crew are British and would therefore have a contract that will be paid in UK pounds. The ticket sales will be in USA Dollars and that will translate as a lot less pounds than before and therefore render the tour a potential loss. Bryan made reference to this regarding the Dylanesque tour in an interview at the time.

I'm think you are right on this.
Albeit, I think the exchange rate was $1.50 in 2003 v $1.60 today and I'm sure the tickets could take a 10% increase.
Maybe he should just play the east coast and Canada.
One night in NJ, two in NYC, one in Boston and one night each in Toronto and Montreal should pay off. I'm sure he'd sell out big time and avoid the costs of going to LA.

But then if he's already here, why not come to LA?
