Wonderful news, let's hope that he tours again. The Dylanesque show was excellent (Nottingham Royal Centre in my case).

Maybe this is a way of Ferry clearing the shelves of unfinished solo stuff and letting it go so that the Roxy album could have full attention with material written for specifically for the Roxy album.

It would be interesting to see what form this album takes, original compositions (new and old), covers or both as with TBSB and frantic which wouldn't be a bad way to go for Ferry (Bowie very rarely released albums of just his own material) as he might be able to get albums turned round quicker. Some change in musicians possibly to freshen things up a bit.

This is good, especially after seemingly very little in the way of news on any front whether Bryan solo or Roxy. To actually be given a date for an album release is great. Let's hope nothing puts that date in jeopardy.

I have to say I'm a tad disappointed, as I'd really hoped the Roxy album would come before another solo one. But John, you make a very good point about 'clearing the decks' to make way for the new Roxy release. I suppose if that is the case then the Roxy album won't now see the light of day until 2011 at the ealiest. When did we first hear they were recording a new album?? Was it 2004/2005...seems so long ago I forget.

This is great news!!! I am REALLY excited. At this point I'll take a solo Ferry album OR a Roxy album. I love 'em both!!! Great, great news. :D

Seems strange that a new album would be "announced" a full seven months ahead of a planned release date. Normally albums announced now would be the ones coming out in October/November aimed at the Christmas market.

BF and co have traditionally kept their cards close to their chest when it comes to going public with their future plans, so perhaps this is to stop all of us going on about why no Roxy news had emerged. The Metaphors website update in May stated that they were now available for festivals and autumn dates which would be the "only chance to see two original Roxy members on stage this season". Clearly no Roxy shows yet then and presumably no accompanying album yet either. Can imagine that Andy, Phil and Paul must be highly frustrated - maybe the "Roxy Music 2009 coming soon" icon on Phil's site was an attempt to force BF's hand?
