In addition to the divine Chris Spedding and Paul Thompson, Fonzi Thornton and Tawatha Agee (Avalon Tour backups) join Ferry on this leg of the tour - Fonzi's not wearing the sequins dress, mind. Looks like no Neil Hubbard or Tara, unfortunately. Here's an article previewing the tour http://www.blackbookmag.com/article/face-to-face-with-the-great-bryan-ferry/27156 |

Call the reviewer what you may, it was neither a mindless Puff Piece nor a Total Slam at Ferry. S/He obviously knows Roxy quite well - well enough to know that Mother of Pearl is a great lyrical accomplishment! - and although the tone starts off as pretty snarky, by the end the review has actually commented rather favorably on the concert has a whole. Maybe the review isn't it a RAVE, but it takes BF quite seriously and offers more than a few interesting insights. It's worth reading. |

I wonder if Bryan wasn't feeling well.Seems strange that he didn't do an encore .Especially in America. |

Had the opportunity to see the show last evening at the Beacon Theatre in NYC and was greatly surprised to see Chris Spedding let alone The Great Paul Thompson saunter out and take their places on the stage. Such a treat! Both in great form but I have to say that young Oliver Thompson is a force to reckon with - this kid is amazing on lead guitar. The set was a really good blend with something for everyone - three Dylan covers, a Neil Young and two R'nB Motown pieces. There was an intermission and given the demographic of the audience most appreciated the opportunity to go visit the loo! I was surprised to see the Avalon tour back up singers reunited with him as well. A great night out with Sir Bryan in good form and genuinely enjoying himself. From what I could discern having read other set lists New York got an extra song or two. Can't wait until Shepherd's Bush in December on the home turf! |

Post subject: | Casino Rama review and setlist |
Here's a link to a rather positive (almost effusive) review of the Casino Rama show near Toronto. Ii includes a set list which is a bit different than others on the tour, at least in terms of song order and a reputed "encore" of three tunes. Apparently the concert concluded with Watchtower! http://www.torontosun.com/2011/10/09/fe ... h-the-wait According to the review the concert attracted a full house of more than 3,000 people. That's a pretty decent sized crowd! |

I just read that review. Imho a very fair review from a fan who knows the catalogue of work. Was there really any unfair comment in it? ![]() I love the music bf's given us over the years, really: nearly all of it....but the voice aint what it was, surely? |
