Good to see that a fan has captured the final song on the final night of the USA tour at the Greek Theatre in LA. A bit special too in that it has both Ollie and his replacement (after he burst a finger a few days before) Jeff Thall, who played lead guitar on the Bete Noire tour - on stage together. Ollie came on for Hold On I'm Coming. You might also spot Fonzi Thronton & Michelle Cobbs on backing vocals. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxkEwufH ... re=related Robert. |

Nice to see the videos from the US. I've always liked Bryan's interpretation of "Hold On ..." and would love to see him visit more of the Stax/Motown classics and sprinkle a little Ferry dust on them. He cut his teeth on soul when he was with The Gas Board in the early '60s and it's clearly stayed in his blood - I love this stuff and it would be fabulous to see him do a concept album dedicated to the genre. Maybe with some duets? Personally, I'd love to see him cut "Private Number" with Paloma Faith - that would be interesting. Any other ideas for a dream list? Regards, Windswept. |

I personally don't think his voice suits the Stax/Motown upbeat stuff. Although he's pretty good on the slower stuff! |

I would've loved to have heard the finished recording of "Move Closer" originally due to be included on the deluxe but it was taken off because Bryan wasn't happy with it. ![]() |

I would like to hear a Roxy Music interpretation of (Ain´t no love) In the heart of the city by Bobby Bland. |

Peter I wrote: I would like to hear a Roxy Music interpretation of (Ain´t no love) In the heart of the city by Bobby Bland. This would be a great choice. It would be great if he attacked the genre as a concept project like "ATGB" & Dylanesque. I think this works best because it allows him to become completely focused, select the best musicians for that particular style of music and the appropriate producer. When I think about how fabulous "ATGB" was and is and how it whisks us back to the '30s/'40s, I get massively excited by the idea of Ferry dust being sprinkled on those Stax Volt classics. Also, there are a some great female singers that I would like to see him work with. Although the cuts with Jane Birkin & Anthony were'nt perhaps his best work, they showed how well he can duet and the thought of him doing a couple of the Marvin Gaye /Ross classics with Palamo Faith sends shivers down my spine ( her "Lola" duet with Ray Davies is fantastic). We can continue to dream. Regards, Windswept |
