Does anybody know how to download Bryan Ferry`s "Whatever Gets You Through The Night"? Strangely enough, I`ve managed to download "One Night". I think it was at mp3skull.com, but the operation gets interrupted when I try to get the other song at that site.

I see that someone has jeopardized my whole access to mp3skull.com. Why, and what is this? The operation gets interrupted all the time...

...is that a 'free' downloads site?? you could always just buy it for 99p from itunes...

Thanks for info. The itunes link wheren`t among the search result at my google site. Anyway, the problem is now solved thanks to a PC at our public library. I got the song at mp3skull.com for free, maybe due to that PC`s stronger anti-virus software.

I have decided to come down from the lurker's gallery and join in this forum.

In the last 2 days we have seen both ends of the spectrum. We have had one fan who has displayed every version of an album thus feeding the marketing machine sucking in the 'collectors' who seem to 'need to have' everything in a set.

On the other hand you have someone who is a 'fan', a 'supporter' of an artist who is not willing to pay less than a pound to download a song.

This is what is destroying the record industry, the slow death of the recorded music world has blood on the hands of its own consumers.

For this reason artists like Bryan Ferry and many others spend their working hours doing corporate shows to fat cats wanting a few 'greatest hits' played at some corporate bash to non fans or they are out on the road for the umpteenth year in a row because gigging the same old songs over and over is where the money is.

Many artists have said there is no money in recording new music anymore so while fans are continually expecting free music then we will continually see a decline in the recorded output of artists and have to settle for compilation albums, corporate gigs and endless touring of the hits.

Well said Colm old bean. I've been on to Ferry's people tonight (Dene Jesmond Enterprises) trying to wrap up a deal for BF to take the naming rights for St James' Park (now the Sports Direct Arena). For those not familiar with Association Football this is the home of Newcastle United, Bryan's beloved team.

Anyway, the owners are looking for £8 million a year. I gather that Ferry could be interested if the club could live with a lesser sum, and a few half time performances of Geordie favourites. St Bryan's Park has a certain ring to it, don't you think?

colm, that is what i was alluding to (too subtly i fear for le freak)...

music has never been cheaper, more accessible or convenient, yet 'fans' want it for free & then moan that they aren't recording new music...why did olympia take so long?? maybe cos the money wasn't always there to pay for it?!?!? christ, imagine having to do another few corporate-type gigs just so you can get back in the studio to finish an album that people then steal and moan about...they'd soon moan if bryan quit altogether!

Well, this is a bit unfair. I`m no downloader in the first place. I finally bought the vinyl 10 track edition after desperately waiting for the release of the vinyl 12 track editon, which still hasn`t seen the light of day. Just see my comments at the "Olympia For Collectors"-thread. That`s why I, for the first time in my life, downloaded these songs. I`m a vinyl freak, -always has been and always will be.

....fair enough le freak...i'll get off my soapbox now...it's just a subject i feel v strongly about. actually, most modern purveyors of vinyl usually include a download code to avoid this very problem...
