Interesting question Ian. Something I've thought would be enjoyable to hear would be a stripped down version of the song These Foolish Things with only BF's vocal and Eddie J's piano. While I like the existing version of TFT, it seems a bit cluttered and the nuance of BF and EJ's interplay gets lost in the mix....
Hipsters,
I find the idea of a stripped Ferry album to be excellent. He does this pared down stuff very well (Gates of Eden, Carrickfurgus,The Only Face etc..)
That said, I would prefer that he select the songs from the complete Ferry/Roxy catalogue and add a couple of new interpretations rather than give the treatment to one particular album.
He could tour it with a four piece at smallish upscale venues and it would be a great way to celebrate his 40 years of creativity.
This "Stripped" idea is a definite winner. After all, it gave the Stones there last good album!
The very idea sends me off to "Ferry Heaven" - Isaac, start preparing the visuals!
Perhaps you fanatics out there have ideas for the set list?
