I'm guessing not, as (a) we should be looking forward to the deluxe FYP & maybe Stranded too next year and (b) the cynic in me thinks the lack of composer royalties would also push TFT down the priority list!

2013 will be the 40th anniversary of These Foolish Things.Are there any plans to release a Deluxe version ? Were there any songs left over from those recording sessions ? |

Interesting question Ian. Something I've thought would be enjoyable to hear would be a stripped down version of the song These Foolish Things with only BF's vocal and Eddie J's piano. While I like the existing version of TFT, it seems a bit cluttered and the nuance of BF and EJ's interplay gets lost in the mix.... |

With the time constraints of Ferrys recording schedule back in '73 what finished up on record is what was recorded, he was planning on more radical reworkings of other songs but ended up with the finished album. |

Hipsters, I find the idea of a stripped Ferry album to be excellent. He does this pared down stuff very well (Gates of Eden, Carrickfurgus,The Only Face etc..) That said, I would prefer that he select the songs from the complete Ferry/Roxy catalogue and add a couple of new interpretations rather than give the treatment to one particular album. He could tour it with a four piece at smallish upscale venues and it would be a great way to celebrate his 40 years of creativity. This "Stripped" idea is a definite winner. After all, it gave the Stones there last good album! The very idea sends me off to "Ferry Heaven" - Isaac, start preparing the visuals! Perhaps you fanatics out there have ideas for the set list? 'Bryan Stripped Bare' - what an interesting concept for an album. I like the idea of an essentially acoustic collection. Do you think the idea deserves a thread of its own? Personally, I would lift the vocals from the original recordings, as I'm not a fan of Bryan's recent vocal offerings. Not sure it would work with the Roxy stuff so well, because the group input was what made the songs so special. I would be interested to know what songs fans would like to hear acoustic versions of, and whether Ferry only, or mixture of Ferry/Roxy material, and whether with new vocals, or the originals. I know some fans would be highly critical and just see it as another re-mix type project. |

On its face, I wouldn't have thought that the Stones' "Stripped" album would have worked, but it really did prove to be very engaging. It wasn't so much "acoustic" as it was just very straightforward w/ drums, vox, a couple of guitars and some keyboards. Mick's vocals are particularly strong, something that BF would have a bit of a problem matching if he set out on a similar project. |
