Interesting post by Bill MacCormick on social media today (well, in fairness most of his posts are interesting and amusing too, but this one was about QS!)...

Apparently just before Covid reared its ugly head, a Japanese promoter asked Bill (retired from music), Phil & Charles Hayward (still active on the avant garde scene) to reform Quiet Sun for some live dates in the land of the rising sun. Better still, the promoter is still interested in making it happen! :D

And, as if to (accidentally) promote a reunion, Stuart Maconie featured the band's only album "Mainstream" on his BBC radio show last week.

Hopefully, with practice, Bill will be able to persuade his fingers to revisit their nimble past and we might be able to persuade QS of the benefit of some warm up gigs in the UK. ;)

The fourth member of the band, Dave Jarrett, has disappeared off the face of the earth after leaving the music scene to teach maths. I'm sure it would be too much to hope that Eno, who guested on "Mainstream" (if you don't own it, please remedy that situation!), could be persuaded to step in...

Keep your fingers and toes crossed for luck!

Here's a link to the Stuart Maconie broadcast which shines a light on QS (whose music is played at intervals throughout the two hours):

Smudge can't help thinking that the line up might be Yaron Stavi, Charles Hayward and Leszek Mozdzer with Phil. And Reddington Rare Records................. that takes me back :D
