I've attended a handful of the maestro's promotional interviews for his memoirs and at the most recent one on Thursday he revealed that "Mainstream" will get a reissue in the new year to mark its half century.

Better still, he told us that the release will contain a handful of new recordings by the original band members! This came as a welcome surprise, as Bill MacCormick laid down his bass several years ago (due to arthritis, I believe) and keyboardist Dave Jarrett was thought to have disappeared into the world of academia.

Should be interesting! :D

Thanks for posting this Smudge. I think that Mainstream is a great album, particularly as it's so different to Diamond Head. So for me it's something to get excited about (for a change!).

My main hope is that over the next few years some Roxy live visual stuff is released, including the 2010 tour. That's really what I'm interested in. I live in hope!

I agree, Roger; it's strangely wonderful that they were recorded simultaneously (one in the daytimes and the other on the "night shifts"). :)

As well as the QS reissue, Phil also mentioned in a recent interview with Prog magazine that 2026 will mark the 50th anniversary of 801 Live and that there will be a reissue including some previously unheard material.

Given that the deluxe 2CD issue of 801 Live included the rehearsal sessions, I'm eager to find out what the extra stuff might be (all I've ever heard is a bootleg CD-R of part of the Reading Festival set, copies of which I've sent to Phil & Bill in the dim and distant past).

I think we can rule out anything new recorded by the original members (as per the QS plans), though... When I mentioned to Eno in 2016 that all members were still alive, he left me in no doubt where I could stick the idea of them playing together again! Since that time both Francis Monkman and Lloyd Watson have sadly left us, of course.

I don't know what other plans Phil may have, but he had talked about the possibility of another boxed set to include his many and various collaborations (which might, of course, include, QS, 801, The Explorers etc.). Time will tell, I guess...
