It seems that Andy has agreed to to play in The Mighty Clang Band, a group put together by former Elvis Costello producer Clive Langer (although their mutual connections seem to be Madness & Deaf School...).

They're due to play a support set at the Dublin Castle pub in Camden Town on Wed 22nd Oct, when, by supreme & unfortunate irony, I'll be just across the road in the Jazz Cafe for ex-Whitesnake guitarist Bernie Marsden's blues/rock gig.

Such info as I was able to glean from Facebook and the internet suggests that there may also be a support set on the following night at the Electric Ballroom, also in Camden Town (when I'll be otherwise engaged watching Tottenham Hotspur... grrr!).

Good to hear that Andy's treading the boards again, though! :D

Well, the Emperor himself did indeed pass this way on Wednesday evening and he was looking relaxed and well, I'm pleased to say.

I managed a few quick words with him as he kindly signed his book for me and he agreed that it would be nice to fit some more live work into his schedule. He said this might possibly include The Metaphors, but it didn't sound like there were any firm plans.

It was nice to have a pre-gig chat in the bar with one or two fellow VRM members, including Stabbs McKenzie, and I will have to hope that one of them will review the gig; sadly, I had a ticket for a neighbouring venue and had to leave the Dublin Castle barely 10 minutes after Andy took to the stage. :(
