I for one like the idea, but where are you thinking of holding it?

Would depend on the when & where, but would potentially be interested in learning more about it.

Sorry for delay in answering. Had signing in probs and been away. I was thinking somewhere like Sheffield, Chesterfield. All good motorway links and nothing to do with the fact i only live 30 minutes from either. Please let me know your thoughts. Would be great if we could get something going.

What would a Roxy weekend consist of?

I've been to Bowie conventions in the past. They usually involve a few stalls selling collectible records/CDs/memorabilia, a quiz with donated prizes, perhaps a room with a large screen showing rare videos, and a live band and/or disco to finish. A pub or hired function room usually serves as the venue.

Perhaps one of the Roxy tribute bands could provide the evening's entertainment. Not sure if there are enough specialist Roxy dealers to muster up even one stall, mind.

I fear Roxy don't have enough hardcore followers to make such an event a success. If it were convenient, I'd pop along, but I wouldn't be prepared to travel any great distance. It would have to be a labour of love for whoever organises it; they would need to be prepared to spend/lose a chunk of money to make it a reality.

I like the idea of somebody with a market stall but i was thinking along the lines of a large room in a decent hotel with a disco in the evening preceeded by dinner.A block booking would get discount on room rates and split the cost evenly. The daytime could be spent shopping or heading to the Peak District dependent on preference. The Chesterfield Hotel hold corporate events so it shouldn't be a problem. All styles served here.

What if BF could be cajoled into contributing something as a prize for something on the night or PM, AM OR TGPT could be persuaded to parcipitate/contribute?

That sounds like a great night in the making... Just had a sneaky peek at the hotel too which looks decent enough to me... It all depends on how much interest can be generated amongst the other members.
Having said that, Wrighta raises a great suggestion of a contribution of some sort, and if any of the above do contribute something or even themselves to the evening then I'm sure you'll be fighting folk off with a big stick..

With or without the contribution and depending on when you're thinking of holding it, I'm up for it... :)

I'll go, if Helen promises to take me up the Blue John Cavern.
