from Steven Wilson's Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/swremixes

One remix project completed some time ago which is planned for issue later this year, is the classic 1972 debut album by Roxy Music. To preview a deluxe set, Universal Music Group recently released 2 of the tracks on 10 inch vinyl for Record Store Day.
Included were my mixes of a previously unheard full length version of Ladytron (running about 3 minutes longer than the original version) and The Numberer, which was the original B-side to Virginia Plain. The whole album and the A+B sides of the single will also be included on the deluxe edition mixed into 5.1 surround sound.
I always prefer to work closely with the artist on these projects, and in this case it was the band’s original guitar player Phil Manzanera who oversaw and approved the remixes.

Interesting that the remixer dude indicates that the remixed "deluxe" album reissue was "completed some time ago" - So this means it has just been sitting on the shelf for at least three years (remember when the 40th Anniversary of Roxy was, supposedly, Big News?)

Also of interest is the intimation that, other than the longer Ladytron and the addition of The Numberer (which was also included in TTOIA Boxset), there isn't that much extra (in terms of new tracks or live tracks) in the deluxe reissue. Apparently what makes it deluxe is the 5.1 surround sound remix. OK. Whatever.

I remain optimistic that the box will be a 3- or even 4-disc affair. I'm still hoping for something like this:

CD 1 - The original 1972 album, remastered, with VP and The Numberer as bonus tracks

CD 2 - The (earlier) 1972 BBC sessions, newly restored from the original tapes

CD 3 - The original demo recordings featuring Davy O'List, plus other audio material from the period - radio interviews perhaps?

DVD - Steven Wilson's 5.1 and stereo mixes, together with the original mixes, all in hi-res audio, plus any video material from the period - TOTP, Whistle Test etc.

Oh, and of course, a hardback book with some great archive pics and scholarly text.

Well, one can dream, eh? Probably cost a fair bit either way! :-)

Maybe you're right. Maybe it will be wonderful. I'll believe it when I see it...

This excites me as I recently bought a VW Passat with 5.1 sound. One would imagine that it will be DVD Audio as were recent releases by The Eagles. etc.

Can't wait for FYP to Siren to get the same treatment as the recordings and playing markedly improved.

Thank you, staggyboy, for the link - and thank you Roxy(siren) for posting this on YouTube. The first new notes (or sounds or noises ;) ) from my favorite band Roxy Music since 1982! Can't wait for the remix cd of RM 1.
