Oh the irony - RSD is supposed to be an attempt to support local independent music retailers, not drive customers away!

Bad news, Smudge. If this pricing policy continues I don't want to know what Steven Wilson's remix of Roxy Music will cost ...

Mes Amis,

This has W2 scratching his well coiffured head.

Who prey thought this one up ?

It would be easy to think that this merchandising program consists of somebody walking into Studio One, picking a random item up and saying; "how much do you think we can flog this one for?". Listening to the response and then doubling it.

How can six 7" singles possibly retail for £64 when the complete RM Vinyl Box Set sells for £180 ?

Windswept doit être honnête, this is another example of the fire, steady aim approach to marketing. Not a good story.

Salutations,

Windswept

Chérs amis!

BF is like a Bordeaux wine, getting better with age - but also more expensive!
I don't know how I can justify buying this little box for Mme Oberon.

Had a ring round the London stores and several will not be stocking this item on RSD. :(

Best price quoted was £55; better than £64, but still rather eye watering...

Picked one up today. I haven't opened it yet but the exterior packaging is rather splendid and the package as a whole is reassuringly heavy.
Don't be too deterred by earlier price references - I paid £48 which, seeing other RSD-exclusive singles retailing at around £11 each, felt like a bit of a snip.

£48 sounds a good deal, UKRichard; I paid £54.99 for my (as yet unopened) copy.

Several London shops told me they hadn't ordered it because they viewed it as too expensive, yet there were half a dozen or more copies where I bought mine, some of which are still available today...

Hard to tell if the price caused the unsold leftovers, as the lower turnout of punters (I stood in a 20-30 yard queue for 15-20 mins yesterday, compared with 100-150 yards for a couple of hours last year) may have been affected by engineering works on several tube lines, which made some stores harder to reach.

General consensus seemed to be that there were fewer exciting, "must have" items on offer this year, though.

Ah Smudge. RSD 2015 and the Ladytron release from the "forthcoming" Super Deluxe Edition of Roxy Music. Nothing could match that heady anticipation! :D

Hi all!
Since yesterday I spotted two sellers from my home country Holland selling the box set on ebay for respectively £79,50 and £54,87!!!!!!
The first price mentioned is absolutely ridiculous.......
My local record store didn't receive the box set in stock for RSD, which I regret... Although I must admit I don't want to spent such a high price.....
No idea what the actual price was in the Dutch record shops, I did not succeed to find it somewhere...
Guess I have to find the boxset somewhere, someday by coincidence...
I also wonder, having seen the back of the box online, why the cover of the LST single is different from the original I have, never seen this one......
However still hoping to add it to my collection....

(Almost) no further comment. I doubt that it's Steven Wilson who hasn't done his job yet. Sigh :? .
