As a sort of reverse homage to Windswept2's thread of some time ago, what about the Bryattollah's most cringe worthy moments?
For me the line "You'd nail her if you could" from the title track of 'Flesh + Blood'.
Unnecessarily coarse and most ungentlemanly I feel.

In the context of "She lies all the time" I always thought that "You'd nail her if you could" would mean something like "you'd prove her a liar if you could." Is that so ungentlemanly? Or am I getting the meaning completely wrong? P.S. of course I'm aware of the other, vulgar, meaning this could linguistically have, but really, in this context?

This thread title will have made BF cringe! There's also a danger any responses will upset other fans if anyone picks on one of their faves.
As lonely dreamer indicates, "nail" can be used in English in several contexts. Where I am from, it means either to do something really well - a great job, great goal, great golf shot, or to catch someone doing something they shouldn't, or,yep, to have sex with a girl purely for your selfish gratification.
Now, our Bryan loves his puns, so, here, I think the fact "she lies overtime" means she's a liar and cheat (telling lies and laying down with others), so the crudity is justified in this context.
Just my opinion.

T Thank you for exercising your right to express your opinion Topiary, albeit different from some others'.
"Bryattollah" is a quotation quite prevalent in the music press during the mid to late 70's, I wonder why?
What does "the forum sinks further" mean? That censorship should prevail to prevent anything other than Ferry is God slipping through? We must all have our say surely? It's not like you've ever read anything outrageous on this Forum, it's incredibly tame.

I actually don't see anything wrong with the thread. It isn't necessarily asking for vulgar lyrics, more "which do you think are just bad" and that's a valid subject. The entire lyric for "Trash" could fit into that category. (In my opinion).

Not sure what your point is Topiary. Please explain. Although I count myself as a huge fan, not everything Bryan's recorded has been great in my opinion. Trash, Cry, Cry, Cry and Four Letter Love were awful . And there are more where that came from ! An unreleased song from Horoscope has the line .....Got a taste for the fizzy water when you wanted still......Seriously ??? What about....There's a river flowing by a willow tree ....Wtf !!!!

I knew this thread would upset people!
I love the lyrics in "Cruel" Ian S.
And I don't mind you disagreeing.
I don't want another incident where Topiary feels ostracised like windswept2.
If we all had been amongst our beautiful friends at tynemouth you would understand my reasoning.
It was mint.
